Unlabeled Dance

Two figures dance, but with no label
A boy and girl, a union unstable
Their intimacy speaks a tale
But words unsaid, they both unveil

He pulls her close, begs her to stay
He frowns at friends, keeps them at bay
His own crowd, not without fault
But hers, a line he seems to assault

She was once a social butterfly
Now wings clipped, she's afraid to fly
Her chatter dimmed, her light gone out
Left feeling like a stranger, without a doubt

She tries to speak, but the words don't come
A sense of loneliness, her only chum
A warmth she craves, but dare not seek
The silence deafening, a truth she must leak

For the girl and boy, it's hard to tell
If their dance is worth the spell
Without a label, they both float
Treading water, hoping for a boat

Perhaps the girl can find her voice
And make a choice, one that's her own rejoice
Or maybe the boy will let her be
And let her fly, so that she's free.
