A moment in the rain

The rain poured down in sheets of grey
As I walked the deserted street
The only sound my shoes did make
As I marched on through the sleet

The city was empty, devoid of life
No cars, no people, no signs of strife
Just me and the rain, in a world gone still
A solitary figure, with a heart to fill

I thought of days gone by and dreams to come
Of all the places I had been and the things I had done
And in that moment, in the midst of the storm
I knew that I was strong, that I would weather any form

For life is like the rain, it falls on all
The good and bad, the short and tall
And though it may seem bleak and dark
It also brings the chance for a fresh new start

So let the rain fall, let it wash away
All the hurt and pain of yesterday
For tomorrow is a new day, a new chance to thrive
To live and love and truly come alive.
