Blythe frowned, tilting her head to see what she could possibly make of the mess she had made on the canvas.
Paxton chuckled next to her.
"It's not bad, baby," he said, pulling off his glasses. It was cute that he was farsighted. She loved the glasses on him.
"Can you tell what it is?" she asked.
"Of course. It's a cow with a bow. I can help you fix some of the coloring. The lines actually look really good," he said.
Paxton had a nice little house that had a guest suite out back that he used as a studio. He was finishing a piece for a client, but she decided she wanted to paint, too.
It was a Saturday morning. Josiah and Denver were supposed to join them eventually. It was such a busy time of year for each of them. Weekends were pretty much all they got, and Blythe couldn't wait for the summer.
Josiah and Paxton had spent a few weekends getting the small building on Denver's property to their liking. It was nice that it was pretty much an empty slate. Josiah didn't need much more than an office because he would still do a lot of work and meetings through his main office in town.
Blythe stood to let Josiah in. He had smoothies in his arm.
"Hi, beautiful," he greeted, setting his stuff down so he could pull her in for a hug. He gave her a gentle kiss. "Did you have a good week?"
She nodded. "Did you?"
"Pretty busy, but it was alright."
He followed her out to the studio where Paxton was working.
"Look at how cute you look," Josiah cued to Paxton, pulling his glasses from his face teasingly. He gave him a kiss, before handing him a smoothie. "Strawberry banana for you, and the banana peanut butter for Bee."
"Thank you," she told him. "Did you see my work? Can you tell what it is?"
Jo leaned over, squinting his eyes. "It's a zebra losing its brain."
"No, you weirdo. It's a cow," Paxton said.
"I'm sorry," Josiah said sincerely, pressing his lips to her pouty ones. He turned to Paxton. "We'll let you keep working. We'll be inside if you need us."
"Okay. Text me when Denver gets here and we can go," Paxton said, putting his glasses back on.
Blythe leaned over to kiss his cheek before following Jo back into the main house.
She sat on the couch, flipping on the TV. Today, the four of them were going to go on a drive, check out a few stores, and maybe do a quick hike before grabbing a bite to eat. Meeting at Paxton's was easiest because then they could ride together.
Denver arrived soon after, and they all gathered around. The boys took forever trying to decide whose car would be best, and who was going to drive. Blythe let them discuss it out, even though it was only about an hour drive and didn't make a lot of difference.
They ended up in Paxton's Jeep with Josiah driving. Denver sat in the passenger which left her and Pax in the back.
Jo was kind enough to let her be the DJ which is the only job she could ever want. That's how they started talking about music.
"Of course you would listen to classical music, nerd," Paxton said to Josiah. Even though Blythe couldn't see Jo, she knew he was rolling his eyes.
"I bet Denver listens to country music," Blythe teased.
Denver turned around. He looked exceptionally handsome in a baseball cap and sunglasses.
"So we're picking fights today?" Denver asked.
Blythe laughed. "I'm not wrong, am I?"
"I do listen to country, but I also listen to classic rock. I still mix it up."
"Beer, and tractors, and girls."
Blythe couldn't contain her laughter when Josiah joined in.
"Fuck you, Jo," Denver huffed.
"You know I would let you, cowboy. You just don't want to," Jo retorted.
Blythe could see Denver's blush from her seat. She skipped to the next song on her playlist to ease whatever weird thing just happened.
Seeing her boys like that would be so hot. She loved when they kissed and were affectionate. She wondered if they ever would.
She tried to move her train of thoughts before she fantasized too hard.
Josiah and Denver chatted about work. Blythe lost track of the conversation as she looked out the window, fascinated by all of the new things to look at.
The last thing she remembered was them approaching a green light when everything went dark.
