Backstory: Born in the latter half of the 1970s, Russell Adler enlisted in the United States Army in 1995 and qualified for the United States Army Special Forces in 1997. Due to his accomplishment, he was recruited into the Central Intelligence Agency in 1999. He was sent to Afghanistan and Iraq during the Global War on Terrorism and during one of the missions, the convoy he was on was attacked by IEDs placed by the Ten Rings, leaving him major facial scars. Because of this, he held a grudge against them and was glad to see them cowered in fear at Ian Prince/Infinitus Prime in Chicago. He and fellow CIA agent Kate Laswell were then sent to Chicago alongside their intelligence partner SHIELD to recruit Ian. His skills would be greatly beneficial and appreciated by Ian, especially during a kidnapping case linking back to the Ten Rings, thus earning him a position in Ian's new Task Force Disciples.
