"Babe! Babe! I'll give play to the series!" I shouted from our living room couch.
"NO- WAIT!" I heard the loud footsteps from the second level of the house, Simon was running towards the stairs which made me laugh too hard.
Simon came into the living room along with a bag of chips and two cans of soda. I gave him a smile and waited for him to sit down right next to me.
I love these moments of peace and love between Simon and me...even though we don't have much free time because of our jobs and the high demand for them, when we do have the time, we make the most of it as quickly as possible.
Simon on his days off, he mows the lawn or does some repairs, but he never stays in the house doing nothing, he would go crazy...he likes to be doing something, it gives him a reason to get out of bed and make the most of the day. He has always been like that and with time I accepted and respect him...he is like that because of his backstory and because of his work.
While I on the other hand, I really like cooking, inventing something new. I don't really like cleaning but I do it to keep our home clean and fit...whenever I have time. Because also...my work doesn't always allow me to do it.
Simon and I have been married for 4 years and it has been the happiest and most amazing 4 years of my entire life. I remember like now the first time we saw each other....
I was just arriving as a nobody at the base where Simon was stationed together with Task Force 141. I had several jobs together with Task Force and always Simon together with his mask attracted me...besides he was a mystery...I liked him.
But on the other hand, he hated me.
Everything changed when Price offered me to be part of Task Force 141, after an event where I saved the lives of several people and received an honorary medal. I caught the attention of several captains but I only thought of one thing...I only thought of Task Force 141. Not only because Simon was part of them but because it was like a dream unit! We all wanted to be there...
When I joined nothing was easy, Simon was my lieutenant and he set out to make my life hell...the others helped me but Simon hated me. Everything changed when I confessed.
He felt the same way. So his hatred towards me...it was only at the beginning then it was just an excuse to annoy me and get my attention....
After that confession everything was easier and everything was like a fairy tale.
And now, we are husband and wife...we have a big house like the American dream and a dog! We don't have children...because we decided not to have them until we completed our years of service.
"This show is fucking crazy." Simon said as he ate.
"Hey, you're the one who said to watch it." I said taking the bag of chips from him.
"Yeah but my head can't take it anymore. I prefer Emily in Paris."
"Okay gurl." I said with a chuckle.
"It's more complex and simple. Everything is already predictable and Emily needs to be with the bloody Chef." Simon said taking the bag from me again.
Simon hates the Emily in Paris series, according to him, it's too pink for his style. Don't even tell me twice.
"But The chestnut man, it's very unpredictable and I already want to know who the bloody killer is, it makes me desperate." Simon said making me laugh as he was running his hand through his hair with a lot of stress.
"I love you." I said giving him a kiss on his cheek.
I looked back at the TV screen with a smile. But Simon grabbed my face by my cheeks, turned my head towards him and planted another kiss but on my lips- "and I love you more."
We stood in silence for a while as we watched the series, Simon was lying behind me while with his free hand he grabbed potatoes from the bag like a little boy.
*phone ringing*
"Give it pause." Simon said to me getting up from the furniture to look for his phone which was on the kitchen island.
"Riley, speaking." Simon said taking the call as he stood up straight with his left hand on his waist.
"48 hours?" Simon said making me pay more attention.
It was for sure it's from work but 48 hours of what?
"Understood, sir" Simon said again.
"Yes, she's with me." Simon looked at me."Who is she?" I asked in a low voice as I got up from the couch.
"Yes, I'll let her know. Good evening, sir." Simon then ended the call and set his phone down on the island again.
"Who was that?" I asked again.
"It was Price. We're back in action in 48 hours." Simon said taking my hand and heading toward the furniture again.
I was really sad inside...I didn't want this little vacation to end...but at the same time I know we have to get back to work, it's our duty.
"He told you where?" I asked.
"Russia." Simon answered me.
"Okay." I leaned back against the furniture.
"Hey, hey..." Simon moved closer to me gluing his forehead to mine.
"Mm?"
"Don't be sad...you know it's our duty. We'll have more vacation." Simon said to me as he stroked my hair.
"I know..."
"Besides, we won't be apart. We're always going to be together, you understand me? Always."
His words made me want to hug him and never let go. That time would stand still.
"I know, I love you, you know?"
Simon gave a smile- "and I love you more, much more."
