"We had"

His words cut me like a knife on my skin, I felt shivers go down my spine and my hands began to sweat.

"What-what happened to Marlya?" I asked.

"Kaia..." Simon said to me as he lowered his head.

"Simon, I deserve to know. It was my daughter too, wasn't it?" I told him.

"You never had a belly, no pregnancy symptoms either, you didn't know you were pregnant. We had a mission where you were pretty hurt but nothing out of the ordinary for our job, you had tests and x-rays to see if you were all right and that's when we found out we were going to be parents. You were already about 8 and a half months almost 9 months of pregnancy...." Simon paused.

I was silent waiting for him to finish...I knew it was going to hurt but I wanted to know the whole truth.

I deserved to know it for a second time.

"We did everything fast, we created this room together, we were on maternity leave, you gave birth to Marlya and we only had her for 3 days. She died in her sleep. Sudden Infant death syndrome." Simon said...in his voice you can hear how he was trying to keep his posture but his voice was cracking.

There was a small book on top of the baby clothes drawer, I picked it up and began to read it.....

It contained everything about our baby girl....

Marlya Kassidy Riley Russ...

There were only 2 pages full of pictures, from sonograms, birth , and pictures in the house. The other pages were blank...empty.

She was a beautiful baby...she looked just like the two of us...a product of our love...

I couldn't hold back and cry.

I felt a pain from deep inside my heart that spread throughout my body, it felt like a piece of me was being ripped away...it hurt.

Simon came into the room and hugged me.

His embrace was strong and warm. I accepted his embrace and wrapped my arms around his body...I rested my head against his chest and let out all the tears I felt inside.

It was a moment of intimacy, not in a sexual way but emotional intimacy...we were both comforting each other. I needed it, and so did he. His heart was pounding hard against my ear.

"Let's go to bed." I said grabbing his hand.

Simon closed the door behind him, we went into our room and lay down on the bed. We were looking at each other...only our eyes were doing the talking for us....

His hand was in mine....

"I love you, Kaia." Ghost's raspy, deep voice said to me.

"I love you too, Simon." I told him.

Ghost closed his eyes and breathed...
"You don't have to answer me, I know ya' don't feel it too."

His words were clear and precise...his voice was lower than normal...it hurt in my chest to hear him express himself that way.

But...I do love him. I have always felt him in my heart, I don't remember many things about him but my love for him is still there. The way my heart beats when I see him or hear him...it's not normal.

It is love.

"I do feel it. I do feel the love for you, Simon."

His eyes came back to me.
