3 hours later:
Ghost's pov:

I looked out from the hallway through the glass window of the room where Kaia had been placed after surgery...she was lying on the bed as her chest rose and fell again.

Soap was sitting right next to her bed, he was sleeping.

I walked into the room and stood in front of Kaia's bed...I was looking at her not believing what was happening. She was looking her best a few hours ago...smiling...talking....

My biggest fear happened...

"LT, everything ok?" Soap asked.

"How is she?" I asked looking at Kaia endlessly.

"The doctors said she's out of danger now. That she'll be fine...but-as I understood her head injury was pretty serious. She had head trauma." Soap continued to fill me in.

"Head trauma?" I asked.

"Yeah, they said she might when she gets up..have problems..."

"Like what?" I asked again.

"Trouble thinking, trouble concentrating and trouble seeing." Soap told me making my eyes widen enormously.

"LT, why when Kaia started having a seizure that you lost control you started screaming 'not again' ?" Soap asked me.

"The last time I got a squad under my command.... everyone I got attached to... got killed by Russian forces. I couldn't save any of them, Soap...that's why I lost my sanity at the time." I told him.

"It's a normal thing LT, to lose your mind or control when the person you love the most is in that position...your feelings for Kaia are like that." Soap told me.

"Soap, Kaia... Kaia is... Kaia is... I'd do anything for her. I'd throw myself in front of a bullet just to make sure she stays alive. She... She's my everything... Do you get what I'm trying to say?" I asked while trying not to cry.

"I understand you LT...believe me. I would do the same for my wife."

"I love Kaia. I love her. I would do anything for her. She... she means the world to me. She's the most important person in my life. She's more than just a soldier. She's my family... she's... she's my heart..." I said.

"I hear you LT. Love sometimes is rare...and even more so when it comes for just one person. The important thing is that she's alive and no longer in danger." Soap told me.

"Yes-"

"Lieutenant Riley, Laswell and the superiors are waiting for you." A soldier opened the door and said to me.

"Ok. Soap thanks, I'll be back shortly."

2 weeks later:
Kaia's pov:

I started to open my eyes...when I opened them the clarity quickly made my eyes hurt and my head hurt...my throat felt very dry and my body felt very strange...

I went to raise my right hand but I couldn't...I moved my head and Soap was sitting next to me as he grabbed my hand.

"Johnny?" I said but my voice sounded really bad.

Soap opened his eyes really fast and in disbelief his mouth formed a smile- "KAIA! You're awake! I-I can't believe it! How are you feeling?"

"I'm-I'm fine." I said with a vague smile.

"Kaia... Thank god you're okay...I... I thought we'd lost you..." soap told me.
