Chapter 9: The Date

Y/N's POV

The rest of the week was just training, and if you are wondering how Sean McVay reacted when I told him that I was going on a date with Matthew Stafford. Exactly how I thought he would, he never let me hear the end of it, but he was also happy for me. Sean Also knows about my struggle with commitment and relationship. Even though it happened so long ago it still hurts me. Before I joined the Rams, and was still attending the University of Georgia, I was in a what I  thought was a serious relationship. It was one of those relationships that you would think would last forever, like getting married and growing old together. Turns out It wasn't, whenever the topics of marriage or having kids was brought up, he was would just change the subject. He never wanted to, have a serious relationship, to him it was just about partying ,getting drunk and staying out late. Of course when he partied too hard, I would always have to be the responsible one. There were times when I would be studying or relaxing that he would try to drag me with him. Of course it wasn't my thing, what I loved to do, was study, relax, hang out with Sydney, or go to Georgia football games. He didn't like Football, he thought it was a waste of time. He would go far as saying my dreams of working with the NFL were a waste of time. Of course, he didn't know I had a crush on Matthew Stafford at the time, cuz he also got Jealous at times. Before I went to the internship in St. Louis and my last year of college. I decided enough was enough, and I broke up with him. Of Course he gave the whole you'll never find someone as good as me and all the BS. When in reality he wasn't good at all, after I graduated from Georgia I moved back to LA. Not long after I got the job as assistant coach. Then I met good friends like Sean, Cooper, and Jared. I told Sean about it, a year after he joined. I haven't dated since then but now Im willing to give people a chance, Like Matthew and Joe. After working with Matthew for a week it was less, stressful on my part. The worries of how we'll work as player and coach had quickly vanished. Matthew and Cooper also seem to already have a chemistry in the works.Today is the date, but first training I head to the training facility, and When I arrived so did Matthew. " Good morning, Matt," I said. " Oh, good morning, Y/N, are you ready for our date tonight," Matthew asked. " Yea, I can't wait," I said with a smile. then went our separate ways cuz Matthew had to get changed. I went on the field and was greeted by Sean. " Hey, Mrs. Stafford, are you ready for the date," Sean asked with the smile of the Cheshire Cat. " Oh shut up, McVay, its one date," I said. " Yea, one date with the guy that you've had feelings for, for like a decade," Sean said. Then I got a text for Joe

Joey B: Hey Sunshine

Hey Joey, what's up?

Joey B: Just finished training, and physical therapy for the day, wbu?

The team is getting ready for today's training practice, I just got the facility

Joey B:Oh okay, I just wanted to let you know Im coming to LA ,a few days

Oh really, why are you coming here for?

Joey B: Its medical related there's a specialist there that coach wants me to see, but it gives me a excuse to come see you

When are you coming?

Joey B: Next week

Okay, well im glad I get to see you and maybe show you around LA

Joey B:I'm glad too, can't wait to see you

Alright Joey I have to go, practice is going to start

Joey B:Alright ,Sunshine, I wont keep ya any longer, talk to you later

"So, you going to tell me who Joey B is," Sean asked. " were you looking at my texts," I asked. "No, but again who is Joey B," Sean asked. " Its Joe Burrow, the Bengals Quarterback, I met him at Sydney's wedding in Cincinnati, who is on the same team as her husband, Evan Mcpherson," I said. " Oh, so is there something going on between you two," Sean asked. " No, not really, its just Sydney and Evan are trying to do the same thing you are with Matthew," I said. " Which is," Sean asked. " trying to get us together," I said. " I was maid of honor, and he was the best man," I said. " Oh, I see," Sean said, " Can we not talk about this," I asked. " Okay, fine, besides you do have a date with Matthew already," Sean said. Then Practice went on like it usually did, like any other day. and after a while it ended. Matthew came up to me after changing out of his practice uniform. " So,uh I'll pick you up later at 7:00, ok," Matthew asked. " Yea, that's fine, Matt, I see you at 7," I said. " Do you need my address," I asked. " yes, please," he said. Then I sent him my address and I then head home till then. A few hours passed and it was current 6:00. I took a shower then started to get ready for the date. I dressed a in formally casual, I hope this date goes well. Seven o'clock rolled around quickly, I heard a knock at my door. I got my purse, keys, and jacket, and opened the door. There stood Matthew with roses in his hand. " Oh, Matt, these are beautiful," I said. " Sean told me, these were your favorite," Matthew said. We walked down to his car, he opened the passenger door for me like a gentlemen. I said thank you and got in his car, Matthew said it was a surprise where we were going. Soon I realized it was the beach, We got of the car and the Matthew lead me to where were going. When we got there, I was speechless it was this beautiful step up. " Oh my gosh, this is incredible, Matt, how did you do all this," I asked. " Sean and Cooper helped me with it," He said. " I wanted our first date to be special," Matthew said. I was genuinely shocked and in awe of all of this. " Y/N, I know we only have known each other for a short period of time, but I feel like there is something there for us," Matthew said. I felt my heart pounding, for this to happen to me with the guy Ive had the biggest crush on is unreal. We ate our dinner and talked for hours, I was so at peace with Matthew. This a first date ill never forget, after a while Matthew took me back home. We got to my door, " Matt, I had an amazing time with you, truly," I said. " I did too, Y/N, I hope we have more amazing times like this," Matthew said. then He leaned in closer, Oh my gosh, Im about to be kissed by Matthew Stafford, before I know it, I felt his lips on mine. this kiss was different for any kiss I've had. I kissed backed, and for few moments I felt like was on Cloud 9. We broke the kiss, I felt my cheeks warm up and my heart racing. " Have a good night, Matt," said. " You too, darling, See you later," Matthew said. First Joe calls me Sunshine, now Matthew is calling me Darling. I went inside and went and laid on my bed to process what just happened. But to be honest I think im starting to fall for them.
