Two Weeks Later

Taylor Swift's Point of View
Joe and I are both looking at each other and smiling as we lay in bed. It's quite early in the morning but we've both just woken up. We haven't said many words but sometimes we don't always need to talk to one another. God, he has the prettiest eyes. His accent too, man did I get lucky? I really went on a streak for British accents for quite a while. I guess it's still continuing. He lightly brushes the hair that's in my face, out of the way. I do have some bedhead but he thinks it's adorable. To be fair I think he is adorable as well.

"Two weeks," Joe says quietly.

"We haven't killed her," I tell him excitedly.

"Does this mean we are decent parents?"

"I think it means we're meeting the bare minimum."

"You know, it's pretty early. I bet she's still asleep."

"Uh-huh? You want to have sex don't you?"

"It's been like a decade since we last had sex."

"It's been two weeks."

"Meh meh, it's been two weeks." Joe imitates me which makes me laugh.

"Let me see if she's asleep." I get out of bed and begin to walk towards Ivy's room. She has asked us out of her room which we do. She told us she never had privacy and now would like a safe space. We won't go in unless she gives us a reason to. I don't know if I've actually seen it since she moved in. On the way, I hear noises from the kitchen. Instead of heading towards Ivy's room, I go to the kitchen where I see Ivy, standing and eating a bowl of Cinnamon Toast Crunch. She has the box in one hand as she the nutrition facts.

"This box is crazy if it thinks I'm going to have only one cup of my boy Toasty," Ivy exclaims.

"What are you doing up so early? It's 7 in the morning. I thought teenagers slept in or whatever."

"Dude, I've been waking up before you for the last two weeks. I thought adults wake up at like 6."

"I'm more of a night owl I guess. So are you by the way! When the hell do you sleep?" I realize this girl stays up as late as us and now am finding out she's waking up before we do.

"I don't know. It just happens."

"You're just a child. Use your sleep while you can."

"Sleep is for the weak." She then chugs the milk left in her bowl.

"Well, I gotta lay some bad news on you kid. The school district isn't happy with your scores."

"For which classes?"

I take a pause and try to think of a decent response but nothing. I have nothing. "All of them."

"Yeah, that-that sounds about right."

"How did you fail gym? All you have to do is show up!" And I see how she failed. I literally just said it out loud.

"Yeah, I didn't show up."

"We had to enroll you in summer school and you start Monday."

"What? I can't do that!" She begins to freak out like her world is coming to an end.
