Chapter Fifty-Nine: Bleachers

"Mom, I'm heading out," Blake called after mom the next morning, and she hurriedly came out of the kitchen to give him a kiss on the cheek as he wiggled out of her after a couple of seconds of struggling and then grinned at me, giving a two fingered salute.

I squinted my eyes instead of saying anything as he goes out, getting into Kai's car outside. I watched them drive away from the neighborhood and glanced at my bowl of cereal.

Why the hell... would he do that?

Jayden left last night after another thirty minutes of making up scenarios about what really happened, since before Jenny could tell why they did it, she left the date and blocked him on every social medias.

I feel the worst for mom, she'd be so heartbroken if they lose.

The parents were invited to watch the match of course, and we were about to go there around 6 in the evening, but I since I had plans with the guys, I was going out right before the clock hits 8am.

I glanced at the clock. 7:35am. The whole school is going to be there before 5 and it'll be buzzing all over, and we needed to finish everything before the game started.

If they're fixing the match, and the selected people knew about it... what's the point?

I went back to my group call with Sam and Vanessa. "I mean, I don't really understand what's gotten into him, if what he shows me is the real him, he'd never do that."

"You never know a person is real to you until on the verge of their death, Evelyn." Sam wisely said from the other side. But it was too much of a serious thing to say since Van hissed by his side.

"Stop being a wiseass bitch and get ready now. Eve, when will you be out?" She asked me and I glanced at the clock again.

"I don't know, in ten minutes?"

"Oh," I could feel her nodding at this then she asked the thing I was dreading. "Well... Is Jayden picking you up?"

I closed my eyes and then hated myself for partly forgiving him for what he did to me. As childish as it was, I was sure I was doing this half for my weakness for him.

"I mean a free ride isn't something I can let down."

"That sounded kind of kinky," Sam commented and then grunted after a loud thump which obviously was Vanessa's doing.

"I'm sorry, but you guys should get ready," I changed the subject lightly so that they wouldn't notice and after we bid each other farewell, I finished my cereal in a hurry then stuffing a particularly large granola bar in my mouth, ran upstairs to get ready.

It took me kind of 20 minutes to do it because no matter whatever our plan today was or no mattefr our team was going to lose today, I had to put some makeup on for the events. And of course I wore something extravagent today: a turtleneck black sweater with a beige skirt that Mia left for me. It wasn't like me at all, but I thought sometimes, I needed a change too.

And... we had another intention with that too.

I came down after I was done with everything and screamed a goodbye to my parents after reminding them to arrive earlier today (only to be disappointed a heck lot) then got out in the chilly weather.

Not very surprisingly, Jayden turned up in his motorbike from their place to ours and halted dangerously which makes me think for a second that he's going to fall but he doesn't and grins foolishly under his helmet.

"Hello!"

The sweet absolutely adorable greeting makes me want to eat myself up from the inside but I contain my giddiness and with a set face, got up behind the bike, aafter making sure neither mom or dad was peeking through the curtains.
