Helaena was gone at the citadel for two years before she came back and was to wed aegon.
"Fire lilies... Gloriosa superba are spectacular perennials that are becoming increasingly rare in the wild. But the citadel has one." Helaena remarked as Blyana did her hair. "They are also caed flame lily, glory lily, or tiger claw. Fire lilies belong to the autumn-crocus family..."
"Im so glad you learned so much." Blyana remarked. "Im so sorry this is your homecoming."
"I understand." Helaena assured softly. "Fire lily flowers branch off from the main stem, producing fiery red or orange blooms with yellow edges." Shd went on as Blyana put little clips in her hair. "Six yellow stamens radiate from the bottom of the flower. The bottom auntie!"
"Amazing!" Blyana agreed. "You will have to tell me all about every flower you learned. Maybe we can get a few here in the capital. Larys has ways you know."
"I would like that." Helaena agreed.
"I can't believe you are getting married."
"Me either." Helaena agreed.
"I'm sorry I couldnt change Alicent's mind." Blyana remarked.
"I dont blame you, I knew this day would come, I just didnt think it would feel so sickening."
"Alicent was terrified on her wedding day, she knows better than most how hard this is." Blyana remarked. "I dont know why she is pushing this on you my dear."
"You like being a mother." Helaena remarked softly meeting her gaze in the mirror.
"I love being a mother." Blyana agreed. "They are the light of my life, them and Larys and you and your siblings." Blyana hugged Helaena from behind and she leaned back into Blyana.
"Do you think I will be a good mother?" Helaena questioned.
"I think you will be a great mother." Blyana agreed.
"Can I have a moment alone?" Helaena questioned.
"Of course, shall I get your mother?"
"Yes." Helaena agreed softly. Blyana moved to the door to see ALicent pacing.
"Ali..."
"Am I throwing a union upon my daughter just like father did to me? Don't answer that, that is what I'm doing. I'm going to make her miserable." Alicent declared.
"Aegon isnt Viserys." Blyana corrected.
"Aegon is a shithead." Alicent agreed.
"Aegon is sweet, you remember when he was little? She was the sweetest little thing in the world and you two were close." Blyana declared.
"And then he grew up and became a shit." Alicent agreed.
"He has his moments, Helaena wanted to see you. why dont you talk to her and I will talk to Aegon." Blyana suggested. So Alicent headed in and Blyana moved to Aegons room.
"She's a beautiful young woman, and is this not better than a stranger?" Larys questioned.
"She is strange." Aegon corrected. "She likes bugs, she spent two years studying bugs and plants." Larys tsked.
"Your aunt Blyana and I love nature and studying new plants, and I know you are not calling my Blyana strange." Larys remarked sternly. Aegon sighed.
"No, Auntie Blyana is cool." Aegon agreed.
"You have to treat Helaena right, you are the future of the realms Aegon and that starts right here, with your wife." Larys informed him. Blyana smiled leaning against the doorframe.
"I'm not going to be king, Rhaenyra is the heir." Aegon corrected.
"I dont think she will ever come to reign." Larys countered gently.
"You think I could be king?" Aegon questioned.
"Do you want to be a good king?" Larys countered.
"Yeah, I guess." Aegon agreed.
"You guess?" Larys questioned.
"Yes. If I am to be king I want to be a good king." Aegon agreed with more confidence.
"A good king, a good man takes care of his family, his wife, you need to show the realms that you are capable of protecting your wife, your sister, your siblings, your family, keeping them safe, not making them feel out of place." Larys informed him. "If you ever want the people to think you are worthy of the crown."
"Okay..." Aegon whispered.
"Okay?"
"I will give it a shot." Aegon agreed. "Worst comes to worst, I get a lover."
"Thats... a start." Larys offered.
"Aegon honey you look so handsome." Blyana declared. She moved to him hugging him and fixing his tie. "So handsome. I know Helaena is nervous... maybe a kind word to her before you walk down the aisle?"
"I can do that." Aegon agreed. "You look really pretty Auntie Bly."
"Thank you baby," Blyana kissed his cheek.
"I'm going to... check on Helaena." Aegon remarked. "Thank you uncle Larys." Aegon extended his hand and Larys shook it.
"Anytime." Larys agreed. Aegon nodded to him before heading out.
"I came in to give a pep talk and that was better than anything I ever could have told him." Blyana declared wrapping her arms around Larys. "Honey that was perfect."
"Just speaking from the heart." Larys agreed kissing her.
"Knock, knock," Aegon said as he peered in. Helaena looked nervously to Alicent. "You look really pretty Helaena." Aegon offered. Helaena looked between Aegon and Alicent and bit her lip.
"Thank you." She whispered.
"That a new flower you learned about?"
"yes." Helaena agreed her voice small.
"Maybe you could tell me about it." Aegon requested. Helaena blinked back at him. Who is this boy, he is not my son Alicent thought as Aegon offered them a smile.
"I would really like that." Helaena agreed.
"Cool... well I will see you at the sept then." Aegon said with a shrug of his shoulders.
"Yes." Helaena agreed. "See you there."
"You look pretty too mum."
Alicent got up wordlessly and hugged Aegon, it was like her charming baby boy was back.
