Ariana:
In a moment of exasperation, I silently questioned my decision to attend this gathering. "Why, oh why, did I come here?" I pondered. My uncle and aunt were brimming with excessive enthusiasm, their faces radiating as brightly as a Christmas tree. It was as if they had orchestrated this dinner immediately after receiving my answer. The uncertainty of how he, the self-proclaimed arrogant king, would react loomed over me like a heavy cloud.
While assisting the senior maid in setting the dining table, I heard the familiar sound of the doorbell. I knew exactly who it was, and it marked our second encounter. The first encounter hadn't gone so well, and I silently hoped that this one would be different. After all, I reassured myself, he wouldn't dare attempt anything in front of our parents, would he?
My subconscious mind taunted me with sarcastic remarks, questioning how I could agree to marry someone when I lacked the courage to even face them without a crowd of people around. "Hahaha, how funny!" it jeered, casting doubt on my decision.
Aunt Rose made her way towards the front door to escort her son into the dining room. As she approached, my heart began to pound rapidly, echoing so loudly in my chest that I feared even the senior maid, Luise, might be able to hear it distinctly.
I was arranging the dishes, they came i can sense it even without turning my back " He took a seat beside his father on the left side", which happens to be directly opposite to me. This situation adds another layer of frustration for me. Whenever he is in close proximity to me, I sense an impending conflict that might arise between us.
As the dinner commenced, the atmosphere gradually filled with light conversation. However, deep inside, I harbored concerns that the topic of marriage might surface during this meal, potentially triggering an explosive situation akin to a volcanic eruption
His Dad said " I learned that you successfully sealed yet another deal, my friend, and it fills me with immense pride." he proudly smiled at my Dad.
And you can see the brightest smile on my Dad's Face" Absolutely, my friend! I am overjoyed by this accomplishment. It was a meticulously planned endeavor to secure that project, and I am delighted to say that I have successfully executed it.
And later slowly they have talked about the business and Mr. Arrogant also joined them and dinner went well.
later we all sat on the living room having Ice cream, Then the dreaded moment arrived—the topic of marriage was brought up, the very thing I feared the most in the world. As soon as the words were uttered, the air around us seemed to thicken with tension. With cautious glances, I slowly looked up at Xavier from the corner of my eyes, sensing his clenched jaw. However, he remained silent, patiently waiting for our parents to conclude the discussion.
With a childlike innocence, My mom chimed in, "Well, you both can start with the shopping since you're getting engaged next week."
As those words reached my ears, it felt as if the ground had been abruptly pulled from beneath my feet. The impact of the statement was so profound that, had I not already been seated, I might have fainted right then and there.
Anticipating Xavier's reaction, I wondered if he would respond or exhibit any visible signs of emotion. However, it seemed as though he had made a silent vow to remain silent throughout the evening. Up to this point, he had not uttered a single word.
The prolonged silence was eventually broken as he finally parted his alluring pink lips to speak. However, to my surprise, his next words left me astonished.
He uttered, "Alright, keep the preparations concise as I mentioned. After the ceremony, I'll likely have to depart the city for business purposes. Now, if the discussion is concluded, I will be taking my leave."
He not even once glanced towards me and left.
Both our mothers were on cloud nine, brimming with joy, while our fathers resumed their conversation about business matters. Meanwhile, I found myself left alone, deep in thought, contemplating the whirlwind of events that had just transpired.
