Tomorrow is the event and everyone is excited, mostly Angela. I laughed at her enthusiasm, she couldn't stop telling me about the shopping she did for her party dress for tomorrow. She was grinning while telling me all these.
Angela suddenly asked me "Ariana, have you got your dress sorted?"
I remembered how she asked me about the dress which I have chosen for the event.
"Oh god, seriously, how could I forget to get a dress? Anyway, I have enough dresses, I'll figure something out," I thought.
Later, we joined our respective cabins and continued working. Suddenly, I felt somebody's gaze on me. I looked up to see Lauren watching me from her desk. I politely smiled towards her, but there was no response on her face. So, I continued my work, but she came towards me and sat in front of my desk.
I looked up as she sat in front of me and I politely greeted her "Hi, Lauren", but she masked her irritation on her tone and nodded her head and asked me.

"How do you like it here"? I was startled by that question, I mean why is she asking me that question now, she never bothered me , always minding her own business, even I thought may be I should do the same as we are only ones in this floor apart from xavier, no one else have permission to this floor,
But sometimes Angela comes to chat with me, even then lauren never minded and when I asked her about visiting venue she said she is engaged in some other task , then I said ok and then I asked angela to accompany me, she said No problem she will handle it here.
That was all our conversations me and her nothing more only work related and single statements, that is why I'm shocked with her question.
"It's good, Lauren. Thanks for checking." I responded slowly and then she continued asking
"I see you and Xavier seem to be close. Is something going on between you two"? What the hell? My heart skipped a beat as I denied any romantic involvement. well not atleast in the office and only kissed once , so a NO
"What? No, of course not !" i replied with my nervous chuckle.
"I see, but I've noticed Mr. Knight smiling at you and you smiling at him. You both come at the same time to the office. Did you forget your schedule, Ariana"? She persisted with her questions, damn its irritating.
Internally, I groaned. Why was she poking her nose into our affairs? With everything else on my plate, this was the last thing I needed.
"Lauren, I don't know what you're insinuating. Smiling and being punctual are just basic manners," I retorted, trying to maintain composure despite the rising tension.
"And as for Mr.Knight and me, there's nothing going on. We're just employer and employee." I stressed on Mr. Knight to let her know the Professionalism, and i don't know the reason for my irritation whenever she calls him Xavier first name basis instead of MR. knight like everyone else. Do I come across as possessive or envious like a jealous Wife? ufff... No No ... I shouldn't be!!!
"Alright, I just asked about the rumor, Ariana. Anyway, my working hours are done. I need to leave too. Bye, have a good day!" She said and stood up and left from my cabin.
I nodded at her and took my bag and went towards Xavier's cabin, knocked twice.
"Sir, I'm leaving". I informed him.
Xavierlooked at me, about to say something, but again just nodded his head
