Xavier:

"Enjoy the party, Mariana. I need to be somewhere else," I told her before taking my leave.

As I was about to leave, Mariana placed her hand on my shoulder, gently soothing it up and down. She stopped a nearby waiter, took a drink from him, and handed it to me.

Clinking her glass against mine, she said, "Congrats on the new project." Not wanting to appear rude in front of her father, who had arrived just a few minutes earlier while she was busy talking my ear off, I started taking sips and engaged in conversation with him. After a while, I excused myself and began searching for Ariana.

As I made my way towards Ariana, someone stumbled into me, causing me to catch her hands to steady her. When she looked up, I saw it was Lauren, her dress stained from spilled wine on her hands.

"I'm so sorry, sir. I'm so sorry," she quickly apologized, looking guilty. I nodded reassuringly, saying, "That's alright. Please get cleaned up." I gestured towards her red dress, and she nodded before hurrying off to do so.

Examining my own shirt, I noticed some wine had splattered onto it as well. I headed to the restroom to clean up. After wiping off the stains, my shirt looked decent again, the amount of wine spilled being minimal compared to Lauren's dress.

Just as I was about to leave the restroom, my head began to spin, and my vision blurred. Panic set in—what was happening to me? The door swung open, and someone entered, their touch gentle against my cheeks and face. Though I couldn't hear anything, I saw the red dress they were wearing.

Ariana—I could recognize her smell anywhere. That soothing fragrance is what I need on a stressful day. Who else would touch me so softly? Instinctively, I wrapped my arms around her waist and pulled her close, shutting the door behind us. I felt feverish all over, my eyes burning as if flames were emanating from them. Resting my head on her shoulder, I inhaled deeply, taking in her calming scent.

She slowly called my name, rubbing the back of my head. We stayed like that for a while, but my eyes kept burning, everything blurring beyond recognition. She was saying something, but I couldn't process her words. Then she gently took my hand and led me outside. Walking was a struggle; what the hell had happened to me? Had someone spiked my drink? How ironic—a guy getting drugged. Why was I feeling so hot all over?

Through my blurry vision, I saw a man approaching us. He came to our aid, and together, they slowly carried me to a nearby room. Once we reached the room, Ariana laid me down on a bed, taking off my coat. As soon as I hit the mattress, I lost consciousness, drifting into oblivion.

Ariana:

I watched from a distance as he interacted with people, noting how confidently he spoke. The smile on his face added a new glow to his appearance. The lady by his side hadn't left him for a second since I arrived; they were still deep in conversation. I couldn't fathom what they were talking about non-stop.

"Stop eye-fucking him. He's all yours," Mia whispered in my ear. God, this girl has no filter; she always says exactly what she thinks without a second thought.

"Mia, what the hell? I don't do such things," I exclaimed, looking at her.

She just smirked and replied, "Certainly, you're not. And I'm blind," she said, mimicking a like a blind person, god this girl.

Liam sat next to me, his plate piled high with delicious dishes. Looking at Mia, he said teasingly, "I'm not sharing this with you. Go get your own, and stop eyeing my plate like a hungry bull."

She rolled her eyes and got up to get her plate. I was about to join her, but she told me to sit, saying she'd bring mine too.
