Ariana:
Another new day dawned with a soft, golden glow on the horizon. The first rays of the sun gently streamed through the curtains, painting the room with a warm, inviting light. Birds outside chirped merrily, creating a soothing symphony of nature's awakening
The aroma of freshly brewed coffee wafted from the kitchen, enticing me to start my morning routine
As I got out of bed and stretched, a sharp pain in my abdomen hit me. "God, please not today," I thought, knowing I had an important meeting. Again, the sharp pain struck, and I closed my eyes, biting my lower lip to control the discomfort. With a slow, deliberate movement, I crawled out of bed, each step a struggle as I limped towards the washroom.
Despite the pain, I knew I had to gather myself and push through the day. I took a deep breath, hoping the pain would subside, and began to prepare for the demanding day ahead.
"Uhh, I hate when I'm on my period; it pains like hell," I mused to myself as I descended the stairs. There, he stood, and our eyes met. The discomfort I was feeling only added to my unease.
He noticed my discomfort and concern, and surprisingly, his expression softened. "Are you alright? You seem like you're not feeling well," he asked, a rare note of genuine concern in his voice. I hesitated, unsure of how much to reveal, but decided to be honest about what I was going through.
"Nothing, I'm fine. Thanks for asking," I replied as I headed towards the door. Well, at least I was honest with him. Whatever happens, it won't change anything for me. Humans can be rude, but I decided not to let it bother me, and I certainly didn't want to bother him either. "Two can play the game," I thought to myself as I walked away with a hint of sass.
Once inside the car, I drove to the office. Today, of all days, I had a meeting with clients. "Oh, God, spare me," I silently pleaded. I entered my small allocated cabin, preparing for the challenges that's coming on my way not that i least expected person to here.
I entered the conference room and initiated the meeting. Thank goodness, I managed to successfully complete it without the pain getting the better of me.
As I walked, I noticed HIM approaching, accompanied by my dad. They were engaged in a serious conversation while making their way toward me.
Upon seeing me, my dad gestured for me to join them. I offered a polite smile and walked over.
Dad remarked, "Well, sweetheart, it seems like your husband can't live without you by his side," leaving me puzzled and awaiting for any clarification. He added teasingly, "Or perhaps it's the other way around," leaving me utterly confused.
Then he dropped the bombshell: "You're joining your husband's company starting tomorrow," he said with a smile.
I exclaimed, "WHAT?" Clearly caught off guard, my reaction surprised him. I nervously added, "What do you mean, Dad? I don't understand." My husband, standing beside my dad, remained silent, staring at us with a blank expression.
"You are required there, it seems, princess. Uncle Rafe has wanted to work with him for a long, long time. Finally, the day has come," he said with a smile. I didn't know how to react, so I just faked a smile.
My husband cleared his throat. "Alright, Mr. Miller, I will take my leave. I have a meeting to attend," he informed.
Dad happily added, "Yes, son, take care," and he left the room.
Now, only the two of us remained. Silence enveloped us. He looked at me and walked away towards the lift. I stood there, gazing at him. Simultaneously, he turned and looked at me. Suddenly, someone grabbed my waist, pulling me towards them, and hugged me tightly.
I gasped loudly.
