Ariana POV:

My breath caught as I beheld his striking appearance. "Handsome" seemed like an understatement; he exuded an almost god-like allure. It was evident that every female gaze was fixed upon him. I smiled, hoping for a compliment, but instead, he simply instructed, "Follow me."

With a slight frown, I trailed after him, what there are no compliments and nothing at least he could have said something about this dress like this looks amazing on you or something urghhh what I'm even thinking compliment and xavier won't go to...

With a slight frown, I trailed after him, what there are no compliments and nothing at least he could have said something about this dress like this looks amazing on you or something urghhh what I'm even thinking compliment and xavier won't go together urgh.

As we moved, an elderly couple crossed our path. Looking up, I recognized them as Mr. and Mrs. Khan. Xavier greeted them warmly, shaking their hands

.

"It's a pleasure to see you both," he said politely. "Likewise son, congratulations on your success, young man," the couple responded with beautiful smile on their faces.

I couldn't help but think at the transformation in Xavier's demeanor. Gone was the arrogant and grumpy expression I was very well known in the past, instead, he wore a genuine smile. These days I saw him smile and express himself more.

I found myself utterly bored, wondering why on earth he even invited me to stay with him. Here I was, stuck in tedious project discussions, feeling completely disengaged. This is precisely why I dread accompanying my dad to parties or events. I'm bored out of my mind, but I can't escape now that I'm here with my dear husband, who seems to have completely forgotten about me, engrossed in conversation with the witches in front of me.

My foot is throbbing with pain from standing for so long, and I can't help but seethe at the arrogance of the oblivious person next to me. Why am I even letting myself get so worked up over this arrogant jerk? Ugh, I need to get out of here before I lose my cool and say something regrettable.

With a forced smile masking my irritation, I gently poked him in the stomach. He looked down at me, raising his eyebrows in surprise. I mustered up the politest tone I could manage and asked if I could go stand with my friends. "Can I go and stand with my friends?" After a moment of contemplation, he nodded his head.

Exhaling a sigh of relief, I made my excuses and slipped away, finding Angela near the food table surrounded by our colleagues, all chatting and laughing. Just as I was about to call out to her, someone tapped me on the head. Looking up, I was delighted to see my bestie, Mia, and Liam standing there with smiles on their faces. I was taken aback to see them here, considering I hadn't heard anything about their attendance when I mentioned the party to Mia on Wednesday during her girls' night out plans.

"Surprise! You ditched girls' night, so I ditched telling you. Missed you so much!"Mia exclaimed, enveloping me in a tight hug. Returning her embrace, I couldn't help but chuckle as Liam rolled his eyes at Mia's antics. After she finally released me, Liam playfully pushed her aside and hugged me, teasing her as she mockingly cursed him. Their playful banter brought a much-needed smile to my face amidst the dullness of the party

Xavier POV:

I was preparing for the party, eagerly anticipating seeing her in the dress I had bought for her. I knew she would look stunning in it. I couldn't deny my feelings anymore—whether it was like or love, I wasn't sure, but I wanted to confess and give our marriage a chance. It had been nearly four months since I disappeared, treated her poorly, and threw myself into work. If I wanted to salvage our marriage, I knew I had to start with an apology.

Arriving at the venue, paparazzi swarmed around me, bombarding me with questions. I answered a few before slipping past the bodyguards and heading inside. My original plan was to bring her as my plus one, even though nobody knew about our marriage. She could have come as my PA, but she had sweetly asked if she could attend with one of her female colleagues. How could I refuse my wife? So, I agreed.

As I searched the venue, I finally spotted her in a corner with her group of colleagues. She was engrossed in conversation. I approached her, clearing my throat to get her attention. She looked up at me and stepped closer.

Seeing her like that, she seemed like a goddess—undeniably sexy, alluring, and hot. I felt like the luckiest guy in the world to have her as mine before anyone else could snatch her away. Yet, despite these thoughts, I continued to behave like a jerk towards her.

Wanting to compliment her crossed my mind, but instead, "Follow me" slipped out. What an asshole move, I scolded myself. But deep down, asking her to follow me wasn't entirely terrible. It would make it clear to everyone that she was off-limits, and this captivating goddess would be by my side.

I could already imagine her curses if she heard my inner thoughts. But every time I tried to take her to a secluded place, someone would inevitably interrupt. Mr. and Mrs. Khan, Dad's business partners, were the latest interruption. I'd learned so much from them over the years.

As we moved towards the exit, Mariana, a one-time fling, appeared. She hugged me and planted a kiss on my cheek, completely not what I wanted with my wife by my side. I made a mental note to wash my face with sanitizer later. Mariana was like a leech once she started talking—she just couldn't shut up. But again, her father was my business partner, so she always thinks she has a move on me, but then I very good at making things clear.

After some time, Ariana asked if she could go to her friends. My initial instinct was to reject the request, but then I saw her pout, and I caved, saying yes. With that, she vanished from my side.
