Natalia chuckled as Jasper reached over and moved a peice of hair from infront of her face, he had decided to park the car alongside the road no longer than ten minutes ago. His smile was kind and amusing all at once, her laughter was like a melody - one he wanted to bottle and play in his dreams, not that he ever slept.
Jasper couldn't do anything but notice the way her emotions surrounded the car like a protective barrier keeping them safe from all things bad. And for once feeling someone's emotions weren't suffocating him, possibly because it was just one person, but this time, this person was special. He had known since the accident in the parking lot at school. She was born to be his and he was turned to survive long enough to protect her for as long as she walked the earth.
Natalia Black couldn't help but have to know if what Bella was thinking was true. Were the whole Cullen - Hale family vampires? Or were they just special humans? The latter was the most believable, but the first option seemed to be explained. She watched as he laced his fingers with her own, her heart skipping a beat, not only because of his natural cold temperature. Natalia sighed "Can I ask you a question? And you have to be honest..." Jasper nodded, silently agreeing to answer as she pleased.
"How did you and Edward know where we were?"
Jasper tensed, quickly recovering from being caught off guard. He kept his hand laced with Talia's, leaning back against his chair and slightly turning to face her fully. His head was rested back against the top of the chair as he watched her closely. "We knew you were in Port Angeles because of Jessica, but we also had reason to be there. You were just lucky we were..." Talia nodded, her head a little dazed "If I knew Bella as much as I know I do, then she's questioning your brother like he'd been charged for murder."
"I don't doubt it, ma'am."
Natalia tilted her head "Have you ever thought it was my fate to die with Bella that day, in the car park?" she watched his expression fall. Jasper's jaw tightened and he shook his head "It may have been, Natalia, but here you sit."
"All thanks to Edward."
"Yes, thanks to Edward." Jasper pressed his lips together, staring at her through slightly narrowed eyes, deciding again. His eyes flashed down to their laced hands and then back to Natalia "You listen, I'll talk?" he bargained.
Natalia nodded, shuffling around to get comfortable.
"It's harder than it should be - keeping track of you. Usually I can find someone very easily, once I've felt their emotions before." Jasper looked at Talia anxiously - Alice had seen it, they were to be happy together. So, what happened from here couldn't be bad no matter what he thought. "I was keeping tabs on your friends, not carefully - like I said, only you and Bella could find trouble in Port Angeles - and at first I didn't notice when you took off. Then, when me and Edward realised the pair of you weren't with them anymore, we went looking for you at the bookstore Edward saw in her head. I could tell that you hadn't gone in and that you'd gone south...and I knew you would have to turn back around at some point. So we were just waiting for you both, randomly searching the thoughts and feelings of people on the street - to see if anyone had noticed you or knew where you had went. I had no reason to be worried, Natalia...but I was strangely anxious..." Jasper was almost completely lost in thought, staring past the girl beside him, seeing things Natalia couldn't imagine.
"Edward started to drive in circles, but I was still...listening. The sun was finally setting, and I was about to get out and follow you on foot. And then -" he stopped, his jaw clenched in sudden fury. Jasper made an effort to calm himself, keeping his clasp of Natalia's hand as gentle as it was possible for someone of his own nature. "Then what?" the girl held his gaze, her words coming out in a low whisper.
