"What?" Mimi covers quickly. "Get real. If I was talking to you, you'd be groveling."

"You've been following me for a while, and I finally managed to get away." Wario states blankly. "Now back to why you're following me? Chop chop." He snaps his fingers.

"You did not just snap your fingers at me." Mimi scoffs. "And all I know about you is you're working with the princess. Why would something so boring interest me?"

"I swear I remember Mario bringing up once that one of the people his brainwashed brother worked with was a shapeshifter." Wario suddenly remembers.

"Don't you think you sound just a tad ridiculous?" Mimi fires back.

"No, what's ridiculous is your refusal to cooperate, so let me spell it out for you: Mario and Luigi are finished. I have no idea why your precious buddy would care what his brother gets up to, but if you don't knock it off, you'll both have my boss to answer to."

"Ohh, so close and still so stupid." Mimi laughs. "Mr. L has nothing to do with any of this. But you apparently have something to do with Bowser, the Koopa King."

"Bowser?" Wario plays dumb.

"Please drop the act already." Mimi rolls her eyes. "I was hiding in the bushes when I caught you talking to him."

"Oh him?" Wario keeps it up. "He never used his name with me. Why? Do you know him?"

"He's a straight up Bad Guy!" Mimi exclaims. "He refuses to give up on having Princess Peach all to himself, and now he suddenly goes quiet when the Mushroom Kingdom is vulnerable?"

"Any theories?"

"Many. None of which are plausible, so I don't buy it either." Mimi shrugs. "Now be a good boy and tell me what Bowser's up to."

"Look, all I know is I'm at home testing my microgames, somehow he got my name--"

"Wait, so you don't know anything about numbers?" Mimi asks. "And now you're being trusted with the kingdom's finances?"

"I thought I was just being paid to get on the Sammer Kingdom committee. I had no idea it was going to go deeper than that, or that I was gonna have to get all buddy-buddy with Peach's bodyguard. Then I got a chance to move up in ranks, and Mario put me in my place."

"Bit of a shock, no? Couldn't have been easy."

"No it was not. I was forced off the committee. Which sucks, because now they're moving ahead with my aid plan without me, but Mario put his foot down. He wasn't gonna risk anything going wrong."

"So now you work in Peach's castle?" Mimi asks to confirm.

"Yeeeees." Wario stretches it out, to show he's annoyed. "Which I'm betting was a golden opportunity for Bowser to approach me. Like you said, he wants the princess all to himself."

"So what does he want from you?"

"I have no idea!" Wario denies. "I said no before he could tell me. I'm trying to do a good thing here, and I'm not gonna mess that up for anything. So back off."

Mimi holds up her hands in surrender. "Consider me gone. Thanks so much. You've been very helpful. If Bowser reaches out again--"

"And that's my cue to go get Mario. Buh-bye." Wario waves her off and walks away.

"Where have you been????" Bowser roars when Wario tracks him down.

"Turns out I was being tailed by Luigi's new friend, Mimi. I told her to get lost, but she kept pressing me for information."
