"PEACH!" Luigi calls the moment he sees her, and she immediately rushes over to hug him.

"Luigi!" she exclaims, then backs up when she realizes. "Oh no, I'm sorry! I didn't think."

"It's okay." Luigi smiles shakily.

"Wait a minute." Peach says. "You left the wedding. What happened?"

"I'm fine." Luigi assures her. "I just...had a panic attack, so I went home to calm down."

"Someone told you what happened?" Peach asks gently, and at Luigi's nod, she says, "Look, whatever you hear them say, it was an accident. Believe me, I never would've let Mimi's fiancé step in like that."

"I do." Luigi says immediately, making her breathe a sigh of relief.

"I'm sorry you have to deal with all this." She goes on, but Luigi shakes his head, "Don't be."

Just then, a man gets wheeled out on a bed, and when Mimi rushes over to start talking to him, Luigi tells the princess, "You should go to the castle, wait for Mario to handle the Bowser problem."

Peach immediately shakes her head, "What? No, I can't do that!"

"Yes you can." Luigi says. "And you will. Enough people have gotten hurt tonight, let's not add you as one of them."

Peach wants to argue, but Luigi's not budging, and that seems to throw her just enough that she decides to listen to him, because she just nods, hugs him, then walks out by herself.

"Had enough?" Mario taunts as Bowser lies a few feet away from him, beaten. "Or you want some more?"

The Koopa King makes a weak attempt to get up, but upon falling back down, he just says, "Nuuuuuuuuuugh."

"That's what I thought." Mario crosses his arms. "Now get out of here before I beat you again for the heck of it."

Surprisingly, Bowser seems to take that to heart, as he pulls out a remote, pushes a button, and his clown car descends from the sky, and he somehow staggers into it before flying away aimlessly.

"Another job well done." Mario says triumphantly, turning to the side. "Good times, ain't that right, br--"

But then he stops, remembering Luigi's not there, so he instinctively reaches into his pocket for the photo he keeps there, but stops cold when he remembers.

"Goodbye, Luigi. This kingdom's all yours."

Luigi jolts awake from the chair he's sitting in next to Mimi's, startled at the unfamiliar words running through his head, before they're replaced with more.

"You being here right now is the only thing keeping me sane."

"MARIO!" Peach calls as she wanders through the castle. "Where are you?"

"Princess?" Mario calls back, finding her in a hallway.

"Please tell me I didn't just see Bowser's clown car fly away in the sky." Peach says, clearly panicking.

"Sorry, but arresting him wasn't exactly my top priority." Mario says.

"Excuse me?"

"You saw what happened! All I cared about was getting the threat away from here. Trust me, I gave him a serious beatdown that'll make him think twice before he tries again."

The hospital room's door opens, and of all people, it's Toad.

"Hey!" Luigi greets, getting up to hug him. "You manage to snoop around and find out what's going on with him?"
