"I know you want me to give an update, so just ask." Mimi tells Nastasia.
"Ask what?"
"You know what. Mr. L and if his memory is starting to come back."
"Is it? I'd think the way he rushed over here with you that it didn't."
"It didn't. Not fully."
"So he got a fragment of a memory?"
"He has two now, counting from the first time he went up there." Mimi corrects. "Apparently he'd been holding onto the first one for a while, and felt weird telling me."
"So his feelings are starting to come back. How did the second one happen?"
"I was waking him up after I made him sleep." Mimi explains. "He said his chest was hurting him, so I thought putting him under would help make it easier on him. Especially if it was related to his memory. And then I mentioned I have good taste, because of course I do, and that for some reason triggered the second memory."
"So he found what he'd been missing all along on Star Hill." Nastasia says with a smile.
"I guess." Mimi isn't as happy as she probably should be. "Thing is, apparently it triggered a particular memory of Luigi telling Bowser that only princesses with good taste find Mario attractive."
"Interesting. I suppose the timing wasn't the greatest. And I can only imagine how it felt for you."
"It sent me into a downward spiral I'm still struggling to get out of." Mimi laments. "I let myself get close to him, I consider him a real friend now, and now he has a head full of Mario."
"But you understood that was going to happen. And don't tell me Mr. L didn't talk you through it too." Nastasia reminds her.
"He did." Mimi agrees. "As much as I hate how I'm already losing him, I just want him to be happy. So when he remembered that, I had him sit with it to see if he remembered more."
"Did it work?"
"Yes it did." Mimi confirms. "He remembered that he said that bit about good taste because Bowser was interrogating him, and his first reaction was to lie for him."
"Princess, please tell me I didn't just hear you agree to marry this bastard." Mr. L says.
"You shut up." Bowser growls. "You no longer have anything to do with Mario or the kingdom. Stay that way if you know what's good for you."
"Mario, please shed some light on what the hell is going on here!" Mr. L demands, not caring that he's yelling.
"What's going on here is that the princess is finally going to marry Bowser, and we're doing it right here and now." Wario says before anyone else can. "I have someone who can be here within the hour."
"Now?"
"And I already have two witnesses, so you're not welcome to attend. Go away." Bowser attempts to shoo him.
"Mario, explanation, now!" If Mr. L wasn't so upset, he'd wonder where all this anger is coming from, but he just leans on it, letting it fuel him.
"Luigi, don't." Mario begs. "You didn't hear everything."
"I heard enough to know that you're letting the princess do something so monumentally stupid, and you're refusing to tell me why."
"For once, just listen to me and go home." Mario may be backed into a corner, but no way is he gonna let the same happen to his brother.
