Luigi's About to Save Mario, But It May Be Too Late

"You found a connection to Bowser." Is the first thing Mr. L says to Nastasia the second he sees her. "Please tell me this could officially make Mario's embezzlement charges go away for good."

"That and then some." Nastasia hands the papers over.

"Nothing personal, Mario." Bowser addresses him briefly.

"All of this was to trick her into marrying you?" Mario can't believe it.

"Never saw it coming, did you?"

"That can't be all you're after." Peach says.

"It is." Bowser grins. "You want Mario's name cleared and reputation restored, you have to marry me."

"You have got to be kidding." Mario says before Peach can.

"Oh trust me, I'm not." Bowser replies.

"Aren't my repeated no's proof enough I'm never gonna say yes?" Peach says.

"Not this time." Bowser growls. "Now I have something you want."

"I want nothing from you." Peach corrects him. "Our settlement was for Wario, not you, and he threw it out, claiming he was wasting his time. What does that have to do with you?"

"As we've been telling you, setting up Mario wasn't part of the plan." Bowser reminds them. "We have no interest in keeping the kingdom all tied up any more than you. And I don't even need it. Look at me and look at you. We could find a way for your Toads and my minions to coexist in peace."

"Just when I thought I wasn't disgusted enough by him." Mario points to Wario. "And that was before you set me up."

"I'm just here to help."

"Wow. You actually believe it." Peach notes.

"Yes, I've done some...unorthodox things in the past." Bowser admits. "I almost ritually sacrificed the Kong army, the Ice Kingdom, and Mario's brother on one of our other failed weddings. But this time is different. I don't even want a ceremony. I just want to get married."

"You want my power." Peach corrects him.

"I want us to be together." Bowser says. "We just fought side by side to save the world, imagine how powerful we'll be when we conquer it!"

"I had to manipulate you into helping!" Peach won't let Bowser skew those details.

"And now you don't have to! Just say yes!" Bowser urges. "Ruling both of our kingdoms together, Mario's reputation is fully restored, and Mario can even stick it to his brother that you don't need him!"

"Bowser is the embezzler." Nastasia tells them as they look over the papers. "Has been all along."

"The Sammer Kingdom aid money was wired to Bowser?" Mr. L asks.

"Yes. Apparently Bowser wasn't happy about discovering his marriage was null and void."

"His marriage to Peach?"

"It says he tracked down Wario through the Darklands' underbelly." Mimi reads. "Apparently Wario's microgames were doing so badly he was reaching out to anyone who'd throw money at him. Bowser threw first."

"So Bowser did pay him to do this to Mario?" That's all Mr. L cares about. "That's incredible! We got him!"

"But we don't know if this will be enough." Mimi reminds him. "Just because Bowser stole some money from the kingdom, doesn't mean he stole all of it. He could still be charged for the money that went missing before the Sammer Kingdom debacle."
