Mr. L wakes up to a very worried Mimi standing by his bedside.

"Hello. What brings you by this early?"

"Early? I never left." Mimi corrects him. "You had me worried sick."

"Because I was sleeping?" Mr. L's still confused.

"Because after you came back from Star Hill, you started clutching your chest, so I put you under." Mimi explains. "And even then, you were tossing and turning, along with talking in your sleep. We don't know what's happening."

"No we don't." Mr. L sits up. "But let's hope all that happens is me getting my memory back."

He rubs his eyes, "But nothing yet. Just a complete blank and a bunch of muffled words I couldn't make out.", then goes stock still.

"What, what's wrong?" Mimi picks up on it immediately. "Did something come back?"

"Thanks for letting me come." Wario starts.

"You said it was important." Mario reminds him. "Are you dropping your claim?"

"Not in so many words." Wario replies.

"Then we have nothing to say to each other." Mario puts his foot down. "Because I'm far past the point where I'll believe anything you tell me ever again."

"So we got off on the wrong foot." Wario shrugs. "But you'll get over it when I tell you why I came here."

"No, not a memory." Mr. L denies, not lying this time as he pulls out a dreamcatcher. "But this seems to have found a home under my pillow. That you?"

"I just didn't want you to wake up in agony." Mimi protests. "But you were hoping the agony meant something was happening, weren't you?"

Mr. L shrugs. "That didn't happen after I first went up there. Is that so wrong? Particularly a memory that wasn't about---"

"Your brother?" Mimi finishes for him. "You trying to cheer your brother up?" at Mr. L's wince, she says, "You don't have to be embarrassed. If you want to remember, then I want that for you too. Like I've told you twice now, if this life is what you really want, it will be. No memory is gonna change that. And yes, I am aware there's a chance it's not going to go the way I'm hoping. You could go back to be with your brother."

"And you'd just let me go, no hard feelings?" Mr. L's choosing to ignore the flutter in his chest just from saying that.

"Don't be ridiculous!" Mimi shoves his shoulder. "But all I've wanted since becoming your friend was for you to be happy. That's all me and Nastasia care about."

"You're a good friend."

"I know." Mimi smiles cutely. "I have good taste."

"Do princesses find him attractive?" Bowser pulls Luigi's mustache harder.

"They do if they have good taste!" Luigi's nearly screaming by this point when Bowser finally releases him, tossing him aside.

"Get him out of my sight! We'll see how tough this Mario is when he watches me kill his brother!"

"Hey." Mimi snaps her fingers in front of his face. "You did remember something!"

"Uh huh." Mr. L nods, making sure she sees his disappointment. "Your little comment about having good taste made me remember how I told Bowser princesses with good taste find Mario attractive."

Mimi almost looks hurt, before she shakes it off, then asks, "Was that it?"

Mr. L nods. "Nothing else.", and when Mimi goes quiet, he moves so he can get up from the bed.
