Broken Luna

Chapter 2

"I won't tell him you're his mate and I won't let him near you to find out! I'll just tell him I need him present as a witness so no one will accuse me of hurting you, please!", the doctor begs while looking over at my now broken arm.

I scream as more of my bones snap, "Fine just don't let him touch me, I can't take being rejected while in so much pain as it is".

He quickly runs out of the room before returning with someone behind him and by the fresh smell of oak trees and sap I can tell it is my mate, the future alpha. He starts to walk closer but the doctor runs to me and my service wolf steps between me and him protectively. he gets the point and stands there watching. I guarantee he was looking at me curiously or in horror or disgust but I couldn't let our eyes meet or he would know. My tics started to calm and my bones started to snap back together as I screamed out. Tears started escaping my eyes and the doctor held me in his arms causing the alphas wolf to growl lightly which I looked at the doctor worrying as he pulls away.

"Sorry about that I don't know whats gotten into my wolf today, probably just new school stress. I hope she feels better and I would like to get to know her at some point but she needs to rest. See you later, stranger", I feel a small pain in my heart and I want nothing more than to scream wait and run into his arms but I can't

I can't let him know I am his mate and I can't be Luna.

Lucy's POV
Weeks have passed since the incident and I have told no one. I keep hearing rumors about how the future alpha will have to transfer schools again if he doesn't find his mate soon and as much as it hurts, I have to let it happen.

My thoughts are cut off by an announcement over the loud speaker, "There will be an assembly held in the auditorium later this afternoon and all unmated females must attend for the future alpha to inspect and find his mate"

They have never done this but I know the alpha will touch me and he will know the truth. I walk up to my best friend and stare at her blankly as a tear rolls down my cheek.

"Woah what's wrong", she turns to me and wipes my tears with her thumb.

"I haven't been completely truthful with you. I know who my mate is but I can't be with him. My mate is the future alpha and I can't be a Luna with tics and all the other problems I have. Today he will find out and reject me in front of the whole school and my tics will probably kill me after", she stares in shock as we stand in silence for a few moments.

She quickly pulls me into her arms as I sob and we fall to the floor on our knees dropping all of our stuff. She continues to rub my back whispering calming things as I try to relax until I feel a strong hand on my shoulder and I freeze in place. There are no sparks so I know it wasn't my mate. I turn around and look up to see a guy looking down at me confused and appearing to worry. He clearly doesn't know who I am.

"You should tell him. He can help, he's Tanner, the future beta", she whispers in my ear.

I nod and wipe my eyes before standing up and taking a deep breath. I explain everything to him and he stands there shocked so I look down and gather my things, about to walk away.

He grabs my arm, "He will not reject you, he has been waiting for his mate for years and it's all he's ever wanted. He won't care if you're broken, he'll do anything to fix you. Plus, if just being in his presence will help, I'm sure he will never leave your side".

I don't say anything and just nod slightly, hoping he's right. The hours go by way too fast for my liking and I am now standing in line as girls in front of me shake hands with the alpha one by one before being signaled to go away. Tanner stands next to him looking at me with hope in his eyes but I can also see a bit of worry and nervousness. I'm next up and before I know it, it's my turn. When he reaches his hand out, I just look at it, refusing to make eye contact with him. I look over to Tanner and he looks at me with pleading eyes as I sigh in defeat and decide to just let him comfort me for a moment hoping he won't reject me right away so I can apologize. I just quickly wrap my arms around him as the sparks fly across my body and I know he feels it too as he relaxes and wraps his arms around my shoulders. I pull away and look up at him as our eyes lock and we both say, "mate".

Tears well up in my eyes as sorrow pours off of me, "I'm sorry I'm your mate. I understand why you will reject me, I'm broken and all fucked up, I would be the worst Luna ever".

He growls lowly and pulls me closer, "I will never reject you. I don't care what mental or physical health issues you have. You're mine".

He goes to pick me up but my service wolf growls lowly.

"Lucian he's my mate. He can touch me however he wants, just follow close by please", I look at him sternly.

He bows his head and allows the future alpha to lift my legs around his waist as I tighten my grip around his neck, borrowing my face in his chest. Everyone in the room gasps and the beta smiles happily.

"Congratulations son, you've found your mate", his father happily says from the stage.

I look up at my mate as his eyes connect with Tanner's and glaze over and I know they're using the mind link. They nod and suddenly Zachary starts carrying me out of the room in his arms.
