Chapter 8

The sun shining through my curtains woke me from my peaceful slumber. I notice a strong arm around me as someone plays with my hair gently. I open my eyes and blink rapidly trying to get them adjusted to the light. I hear a small chuckle as I look up and make eye contact with Zach. He smiles down at me as I take in his features once more.

"Good morning sleeping beauty, I've been wondering when you'd wake up", he chuckles as I forrow my brows confusingly.

"How long have you been awake?", I ask him nervously hoping he hadn't been waiting too long.

He kisses my forehead gently, "It's only been about an hour".

I rub my face against his chest before letting my body go limp again, not wanting to get up. He notices and chuckles while rubbing my back.

"Oh, hey baby?", I look up at him curiously waiting for him to speak.

"Make sure you don't tell anyone how you got Lucian's human form back, okay? That's secret information no one but the higher ups in the pack are supposed to know", I nod and can't help but frown as I think of him yelling at me yesterday.

He looks down at me as regret swirls in his eyes, knowing what I'm thinking about. My neck jerks to the side quickly, a tic of course. It causes a sharp pain to shoot through my neck and down to my shoulder as I wince in pain. Zach holds his hand on my neck and rubs gently. We lay there for a few minutes just enjoying eachother's company. I look up at him and smile but it quickly fades away as I see his eyes glaze over. I wonder who he's mind linking as I place my hand on the side of his face and press my lips against his. After a few seconds he kisses back and his eyes go back to normal.

He pulls away smiling, "What was that for?".

I act innocent as I look up at him, "You were giving someone else your attention".

He shakes his head smiling, "I can't just ignore those who mind link me. Well I can for some of them but that was my father".

I know shock is evident on my face as I stare at him.

"What did he say?", he runs a hand through his hair nervously.

"He said we need to go have a meeting and that it's important", I stiffen in place as he gives me a half smile.

"We?", I ask nervously.

He nods while tucking my hair behind my ears, "We as in you and I".

I stay silent and rest my head on his chest again for a few moments.

I look up at him seriously, "Only if Lucian comes".

He smiles happily but it turns into a slight frown, "Of course he can but my parents will need to know he has a human form now. It's best if he just goes in his human form next to us".

I nod and lean back to check on Katie and Lucian, both of them now waking up and rubbing their eyes. Katie looks up at me and noticed Zach in my bed as her eyes go wide in shock. I crawl out of bed and grab Zach's hand before trying to pull him out of bed. I get him about halfway off the edge before falling to the floor laughing.

We all bust out laughing as Zach narrows his eyes at me, "You could have just told me to get up".

He gets out of bed and pulls me close as he inhales my scent.

I hold around his waist as I look over at Katie, "You guys haven't officially met have you?".

She shakes her head no so I turn him around to face her while hugging him from behind.

My voice muffles against him but still stays loud enough for her to hear, "Katie meet the future Alpha, Zachary and Zach meet Katie".

They shake hands awkwardly, "Nice to meet you Alpha".

"It's a pleasure to meet you but please call me Zachary", he rubs my arm that's still around him.

"We have a meeting with my parents today, will you be staying here until we get back?", he asks her curiously.

I let go of Zach and hug his side so I can see Katie.

She looks down at her phone before looking back to us, "My mom wants me to come with her shopping and we have school tomorrow so I'll be going home".

I nod and look up at Zach as he looks down at me in awe. I smile and look down at his lips, wishing I could feel them again. He smirks and I feel my face heat up as he leans down and presses his lips against mine. I kiss back and break it by smiling to which he chuckles at when we pull away. Katie packs her things and leaves while Lucian gets dressed as nicely as he can. The drive to the pack house is silent. Everyone in the car most likely wondering the same thing I am, what do Zach's parents want to talk about? We arrive and go inside carefully. Zach holds my hand and walks next to me with Lucian behind us. I look around and notice all eyes are on me so I quickly look away, staring at the floor ahead of us. My head jerks to the side lightly, my tics getting worse with stress. Zach squeezes my hand lightly causing me to look up at him as we walk.

He smiles as his eyes glaze over and I hear his voice through a mind link, "It's okay baby girl I'm right here".

I nod and look forward as we stop in front of a large door.

Zach turns to me hesitantly, "You ready?".

I look from the door, to him, and back nervously.

"As ready as I can get", he nods understandingly.

He knocks on the door, the sound echoing through the room on the other side.

"Come in", a deep voice comes from inside.
