Chapter 12

"I refused and didn't even let Rose sleep in the same bed as me. Rose became obsessed with me and now has it in her head that we are mates, just without the mate bond", he places a soft kiss on top of my head.

I nod and just let him hold me. After a few minutes he lays his head against my back before pulling away quickly.

"Baby why the hell do you smell like death?", I look back as he holds his nose disgusted.

I smell my hair and realize he's right, I stink.

"Who were you with and did you hurt someone?", he begins interrogating me.

"I didn't hurt anyone I just went a little past the pack border and met this guy. He had long red hair, hazel-ish orange eyes, and he talked like he wasn't from this time period", Zach looks at me confused for a few moments.

He then literally face palms himself, "I let you out of my sight for an hour and you go hangout with a vampire?!".

I look at him in shock for a few seconds before it finally hits me. He was pale, had orange eyes, and talked like he was from a different era. I should have known what he was but no one ever talks about vampires or anything other than our kind. Hell even humans are hardly mentioned anymore.

"How come vampires are never mentioned around here?", he sighs deeply.

"We don't associate with their kind, we only have the king over once a year during our ball as part of the treaty", he sits up quickly.

"The part that I don't understand is why there would be a vampire so close to my pack. The closest coven is almost two hours away", he crawls out of bed before hesitantly turning to me.

"I have to go make some calls", I sit up and look at him pleadingly.

"Please don't leave me here all alone", he looks at me sadly before looking down.

"I guess you can come with but you will have to stay quiet while I'm on the phone, he's a dangerous man", I nod and hold his hand as we walk to his office.

I sit on his lap while he scrolls through his contacts on his phone before clicking call on one and putting it up to his ear. He says hello and begins talking to the person on the phone, I realize I won't be able to hear the other person after all. I look around the room, clearly bored. I notice Zach pull out a piece of paper and begin taking notes so I attempt to sneak a peak at them. I see the words "tomorrow", "meeting", "unknown passerby", and "5 o'clock" before Zach moves the paper out of my line of sight. I glare at him to which he smiles and rubs his thumb against my cheek gently. After a few more minutes he says his goodbyes before hanging up. He leans back in his seat, looking at me.

"If I told you to stay in my room while he's here, would you?", I shake my head no to which he chuckles and nods.

We go back to our room and lay in bed since it's getting late.

Unknown POV:
"Onyx you can't be serious, she's not one of us", he stares at me as if I'm losing it.

"I am well aware of that Emrys but she's strong and that is what we need", I reply through gritted teeth.

"We need someone like us, we are stronger than those mutts. We need someone who is strong enough to ru-", I cut him off quickly.

"STOP. Stop talking about her as if she's not good enough. She is strong enough and she will be mine. I will turn her and she will be by my side", I yell across the room at him.

"Sir we don't even know what would happen if a vampire bites a werewolf. It could not have any result, she could suffer, or she could even die", I lean back in my chair looking at him.

"You do have a point. I am going to see her anyways, you do some research and see if you can find out what would happen", he nods and goes to turn around before hesitantly turning back towards me.

"Onyx, what would you do if she doesn't want this? You can't force her to do something she doesn't want to do. What if she doesn't choose you?", he looks at me nervously.

I think about it for a few moments before replying, "I could kill her mate and make her be with me".

He looks at me in shock before I continue, "But I won't, I can't do that to her. If she doesn't choose me I will live with that but that doesn't mean I'll give up. I'll always be here if she needs me or if she changes her mind".

He nods understandingly before leaving the room.

Lucy's POV:
Zach falls asleep almost as soon as his head hits the pillow. I know I had told him I wouldn't go past the border without him again but I can't help but want to see the mysterious man again. I quietly crawl out of bed before grabbing my bag that I had brought from home which has an outfit in it. I quickly get dressed and sneak out of the pack house before running towards the direction I went earlier. I know it's late and I should be sleeping for school in the morning but I can't sleep when I'm thinking about him. I run until I see the waterfall and go back to the same spot as yesterday. This time I don't touch the water so that I don't get my clothes wet. I look around hoping he'd be here somewhere. I sit on the rocks for a few minutes and scan the woods with my eyes, trying to see any sign of someone. I notice a shadow figure deep in the woods, coming my way.
