Broken Luna

Chapter 9

Zach pushes the door open as we walk in together. Their eyes instantly land on me as they look over my body. I try not to wiggle under their gaze as I have to be strong. We walk over to the table across from them as their eyes shift to Lucian.

Zach's mother looks over to him, practically glaring, "Who's our guest, son?".

I can feel him tense up through the hand that is still holding mine.

"Mother, Father, meet Lucian. He is or was, Lucy's service wolf", they both stare at me in confusion.

My father speaks up first, "I thought his human form died when he was younger so he was left just a wolf?".

Zach runs a hand through his hair nervously, "It did but Lucy found a way to get it back so he can have the life he deserves".

They both look at me so I smile as best I can. Again, Zach's father makes the first move as he walks around the table extending a hand out to Lucian.

Lucian shakes his hand before speaking up, "It's a pleasure meeting both of you".

They agree as Zach's mother still glares at me but I try to ignore it.

"So father what did we need to discuss?", Zach sits across from him before motioning for Lucian and I to sit as well.

We sit and look towards Zach's father but our gazes are quickly adverted when we hear a knock on the door. Zach's father tells the person to come in so they do, a woman about my age walks in and looks over to the Alpha sheepishly.

"I'm sorry to interrupt you Alpha but Tanner wanted me to come be with Zachary for the meeting since he is busy on patrol", she looks around the room seeing who all is here.

Her eyes stop on Lucian as his stare into hers. She quickly walks to him as he stands, they pull eachother into a tight embrace. Everyone in the room stares at them in confusion as they pull away smiling.

"Where have you been mate, I've been looking everywhere for you", everyone gasps in shock.

This girl is Lucian's mate?

"Lucian this is Maddy, Tanner's sister.", Zach's father tells him.

I quickly turn to Zach and mind link him, "You and Tanner have a sister?".

He raises an eyebrow at me, "You do realize Tanner isn't my brother right? He's my best friend who I gave the position as future Beta".

I slowly nod my head understandingly. I honestly didn't know, usually Betas are the Alpha's brother but if Tanner isn't his brother that must mean he's an only child.

"You guys have a lot to catch up on, go spend time together we'll be fine here", Zach's mother talks sweetly which makes me kinda nauseous.

I could tell from the first glance at her, she's a bitch. Lucian looks at me so I give him a nod of approval. They go, leaving it just the four of us. Zach nervously places his hand on my thigh. He makes sure to stay close to my knee now which I really appreciate.

He squeezes it gently for comfort I'm assuming, "So about this important conversation we need to have?".

They nod and exchange looks which I couldn't quite catch the meaning of.

"We need to discuss you becoming the Alpha of your pack", Zach furrows his brows in confusion.

"We've already discussed that enough, haven't we? I already know I'm going to become the Alpha when something happens to dad", I hold the top of his hand gently.

"No son, you will become the Alpha either when something happens to me OR when I stand down", his father speaks up.

Zach stares at his father, "So what are you saying?".

"I'm saying that I'm standing down son. You need to prepare yourself to be this pack's Alpha and Lucy will be the Luna", I stare at him in shock as the words leave his mouth.

I feel Zach stiffen at my side before seeing him turn to look at me out of the corner of my eye.

He looks back to his dad, "Do you really think it's a good idea to have her become the Luna when we haven't even started dating yet. Hell we just met".

It just hits me that we aren't dating, he never asked me out, we are simply just mates.

His father growls deeply, "Don't raise your voice at me Zachary. You two better start dating if you think it's necessary for her to become your Luna, if you like it or not you have one week until the ceremony".

I can't find the energy to even move as I sit there staring at the table in front of me as if it's the most fascinating thing I've ever seen.

His words replay in my head, "you have one week".

We just met and I already have to step up to be the Luna of a whole pack? I'm still off in my thoughts but I feel myself being pulled up out of my chair by my hand. I walk with the person who I feel sparks from so I know is my mate. I'm snapped out of my thoughts when we stop at a door as he opens it and drags me inside. I notice it's a bedroom as I look over at the bed then to Zach.

He smiles shyly, "This is my room".

I feel my cheeks heat up as I look around the room, avoiding eye contact. Zach walks up in front of me as he grabs my waist and picks me up. I quickly wrap my arms around his neck and my legs around his waist. He presses his lips on mine so I kiss back for a few seconds until he pulls away. He lays me on his bed and hovers above me as I blush hard.

"So are you ready to move in princess?"
