Chapter 17

TW- Mentions of harm (Consensually) 

I smile as he stops in his tracks, just a few steps from the door. He gazes at me in awe as he clearly checks me out. His eyes roam my body but noticeably linger at certain spots more than others. I roll my eyes and walk to him as I wrap my arms around him. He proceeds to rub my back gently.

"You're beautiful, Luna", he whispers to me.

I feel my cheeks heat up as I smile and bury my face in his chest. He chuckles and pats my head gently as I look up at him softly. He places a quick kiss on my lips before pulling away and looking up at Katie.

"It's time", he states before everyone nods and leaves the room quickly.

He looks into my eyes deeply as he smiles.

"What?", I ask.

He shakes his head while still smiling, "It's nothing really. I'm just so happy you're mine Lucy".

I remove my arms from around him and cover my face with my hands as I feel that my cheeks are practically on fire. He chuckles as I feel him grab my wrist gently, causing me to uncover a little to see him.

"I'll stop flustering you for now my love but only because we need to get going", he holds my hand as he begins walking towards the door and taking me with.

After a few moments he stops and looks back at me, "Oh and princess, don't forget that I'll have you all to myself later. There will be no hiding from me darling".

He chuckles again as I look away and nod quickly. The walk to stage is dead quiet as the anxiety practically pours from both of us. I can tell Zach is trying to stay strong for me but deep down, he's just as scared as I am. As we walk into eyesight of the stage, I notice Zach's parents as well as a few pack warriors already present and waiting. Zach's father stands behind the podium on stage, talking to the pack. As we get closer and his words become clearer, I decide it's best to listen in. 

"As you all know, your future Alpha has found his mate. What you don't know is that I am stepping down from my position as your Alpha", he pauses as the crowd gasps loudly. 

He continues, "Now, this won't be that large of a change since everything will stay the same other than who you answer to BUT I believe it's a good change for this pack. My wife and I will be leaving and putting the pack in the hands of my son and his mate, who will keep everyone safe. So with that being said, it's time for the initiation ceremony. Welcome your new Alpha and Luna, Zachary and Lucy". 

I look around and notice we've already reached the stage as Zach holds my hand and drags me up the stairs behind him. Nearly everyone in the crowd cheers as we step onto the stage, some still staring at me with uncertainty. Zach's father shakes his hand before extending it to me which I take nervously. He shakes my hand before returning to the podium and grabbing a blade as his wife stands next to me holding a book. This lady still creeps me out and I'm so glad she's leaving, the faster, the better. Zach holds his hand out to his father, palm up as he takes it in his and presses the blade against it as he looks up at him. 

He whispers to him, "Ready?". 

Zach nods seriously so his father slides the blade across his palm, causing it to bleed slightly as it slowly drips down his hand. His mother begins reading out of the book next to me while he moves away from me, his father taking his place as he reaches for my hand once more. I smile slightly and give him my hand to which he nods and takes it as he presses the blade against it. I look over to Zach nervously as I feel lightning shoot through my back as my tics start to worsen with stress. 

His eyes immediately glaze over as he mind links me quickly, "Honey it's okay, calm down. I'm right here and it'll be over soon, just take a deep breath and It'll be over before you even know it". 

His father whispers to me as I look up at him, "Ready?". 

I nod as smoothly as I can while feeling myself calm a little with Zach's words repeating in my head. I take a deep breath and begin exhaling as the blade slices my palm lightly. As my blood begins to drip, Zach comes back to me and takes my bloody hand in his tightly. His mom finishes reading from the book, finishing the ceremony. Zach's father raises his other hand as his mother raises mine, causing me to resist the urge to throw up from even being near her. The crowd goes wild as Zach's father announces us as the new Alpha and Luna of The Nightfall pack. Him and his wife walk off stage with us not far behind while we all walk back into the pack house. I look up at Zach as he smiles down at me and I can't help but smile too. I mean hell, I'm the Luna of my pack now, what's there to be unhappy about. I look back in front of us as I notice we're still going farther into the house as I turn back to Zach in confusion. I thought we'd just head to his office or our room but apparently I was wrong. He just smiles reassuringly and returns his gaze to his father. After a few moments, we walk into the meeting room together as Zach stands at the end of the table with me at his side. His parents walk to the other end and turn to us as they both look at him seriously, sending chills down my spine.
