Broken Luna

Chapter 13

I change my stance, preparing to fight as the figure reaches the tree line. The person comes into view and I see that it's the same guy I had met earlier.

He smiles at me as I relax, "It's just me calm down".

I don't fully calm down since he is a vampire after all. He comes over and sits on the rock next to me.

"So you're a vampire huh, definitely not part of my pack", he chuckles lowly.

"You caught onto that huh?", I nod as he sighs.

"Well you're right, I'm a vampire. I go for runs around the same time every day and since I'm a vampire, the two hour drive here is like a twenty minute walk. My ability allows me to track anyone, from any distance. All I have to do is use my mind and I can see the footsteps of everyone for miles. It's how I found you out here, both times", I look at him amazed at his abilities.

He smiles and studies my features again.

"You need to be careful, Alpha Zachary and the vampire king are trying to find out who you are and why you're around here. You could get in a lot of trouble", he chuckles before tucking my hair behind my ear gently.

He holds the side of my face in his hand, "Don't you worry about that. You should be more worried about the trouble you'll get from being beyond the border again".

I nod knowing he's right. We talk for a few more minutes before he stands up and says he has to go. He hugs me tightly before turning around and beginning to walk away.

He stops and looks over his shoulder, "I'll be seeing you soon Sunshine".

He runs off and disappears in a matter of seconds before I could ask what he means. On the way back home I notice the pack border guards are in strange spots, coincidentally in the way of where I need to go. I shrug it off and figure they'll let me go since they for sure know who I am.

I attempt to walk past them but one grabs my arm harshly, "Zachary needs to speak to you, now".

I jerk my arm out of his grip, "I'll speak to him whenever I want to".

The guards chuckle at that to which I look at them confused. They go to grab me again but I push them away and turn to run but am quickly greeted by a fist against my face as the world goes dark.
I wake up on a comfortable chair unlike the cell floor I was expecting to be on. I decide to leave my eyes closed and listen to the conversation in the room.

"What part of don't hurt her did you not understand?", I hear from my very irritated mate.

"I'm sorry sir she was resisting and I didn't want to risk her getting away", he sighs deeply.

He growls out through gritted teeth, "Whatever just get out of my sight".

The man quickly shuffles out of the room, closing the door behind him. I feel myself being lifted from the chair before being layed on top of someone. The person holds me close, sparks radiate from where his skin touches mine and his scent surrounding us gives it away that it is my mate. I opens my eyes hesitantly and look up at him.

He lets out a relieved sigh when he sees me looking up at him, "Baby how are you feeling?".

"Fine I guess, apparently I don't have much authority until I actually become Luna", he chuckles amused at the situation.

"No not really my love", he looks down at me sadly so I quickly break eye contact.

"Why did you want to speak to me?", I mumble out just loud enough for him to understand what I asked.

"Do you not remember with the mate bond I can feel any time you are touched in any way?", I stiffen in place as I realize how much the vampire touched me and that Zach felt it all.

"Telling by the fact you were outside of the border again, against the rules may I add. You were with him weren't you?", I hesitantly nod.

He burrows his face into my neck, "Please never go out there again. You're mine and I can't lose you".

I nod and kiss his shoulder as he lifts me into his arms and carries me back to our room. We lay in bed with me comfortably on top of him as he rubs my back.

"You like him don't you? The vampire guy you keep meeting", he sadly whispers to me.

I look up at him as regret stabs me through the heart, "I don't, it's just I've never even heard about vampires before. They're interesting creatures or people, whatever they are".

He nods understandingly and closes his eyes attempting to sleep. I place a soft kiss on his cheek before joining him as sleep takes over me.
Mondays, the worst day of the week and here we are. I go to reach for my door handle but am quickly stopped by Zach. He gets out of the car and runs around to my side before opening my door and extending his hand to me. I giggle and grab his hand as he helps me out of the car. All eyes are on us as we walk into school, I smile and awkwardly pretend not to notice. We stop at his locker first as it on the way to mine. Once he gathers his things we walk to my locker where I begin looking through my things and getting what I need.

"Don't forget to get anything you need to give to your mom since we'll be there later", Zach reminds me.

Luckily he reminded me since I almost forgot a letter I was given from a teacher on Friday to give to my mom. Just as I'm about to close my locker I hear an annoyingly familiar voice behind me.
