Chapter 4

Naruto and Shikamaru exited the shop after his shift was done. They walked until they had to part ways, at which point they said their goodbyes and left. Naruto looked up and into the darkening sky as he made his way back to his apartment. When he got there, he threw his bag down, kicked off his shoes, and flopped onto the couch, too tired to even move.

This was his life. He lived paycheck to paycheck, working two jobs. The cafe on weekdays and the restaurant had to cover rent, food, school, bills, etc. He was just a kid. Only 17 and living like an adult. Naruto knew that some people had it worse than him, and he had no right to complain.

He rolled off the couch and entered his bathroom, where he turned on the shower, stripped, and got in. The water was boiling to the touch, but it relaxed his muscles. He washed up and rinsed his hair before tying a towel around his waist and exiting the bathroom.

Naruto threw on some pajamas and looked at the time. It was already 9 PM. More time had passed than he had thought. He entered the kitchen and put on a pot of boiling water. Naruto pulled out a ramen package and leaned on the counter, waiting for the water to be done boiling. He finished making the ramen and sat down on the ratty old couch.

He switched on the TV and began eating the ramen he had made. Naruto only ever ate ramen; it was his favourite food. It was also cheap and pretty convenient for a quick meal. He sighed as he watched the TV and ate his ramen. Today had been such a long day.

Sasuke and Suigetsu had stopped in many places on the way back to the large apartment that they lived in. It was more towards the center of the city, and the boys got much attention as they walked through the streets and in and out of shops.

Suigtesu was carrying bags full of things that they had purchased and gifts that they had received from fans. He wore a large grin on his face, while Sasuke looked rather neutral.

The two entered the large apartment, which the whole band shared, and Suigtesu immediately dropped all the bags on the floor.

"Jesus, that was a lot of stuff, Suigetsu said, streching.

"You were the one who bought it all," Sasuke replied, slipping off his shoes and walking towards his room.

"You know it wouldn't kill you to smile and not be a total douchebag!" Suigtesu yelled at him.

Sasuke replied by flipping him off before shutting the door to his bedroom. He rinsed off in the shower before changing into his pajamas. He folded his school uniform up and laid it on his dresser for tomorrow.

There was nothing much in his room other than the dresser, his bed, and an empty bookshelf. Maybe he would go out and buy some books and other things to fill the shelf. Sasuke walked back into the kitchen and went to make something for dinner.
