"Did you know that one in five people get money for their birthday?" I asked while giving Evelin her birthday card.
We were sitting in her garden in one of the richer neighbourhoods in the city. It was a long while off from school, so it wasn't often that I came here.
Evelin smiled, "So you got me money?" She opened the card and read out loud, "Happy birthday... number five..."
Amber and Anna laughed as Evelin kept staring at the card in disappointment.
I felt slightly sorry, as I had expected, and pulled a five from my pocket, "I'm sorry, I found the card and couldn't help myself..." I chuckled as Evelin took the money with now a huge grin.
"Now my present!" Anna was way more energetic once you got to know her. She was terrified of speaking in front of much people and scared of strangers, which explained the Spanish class incident, or most of it.
After opening the presents like a child, Evelin announced it was time to start the games. Not boards games, video games!
We played loads of different multiplayer games, Evelin was a huge gamer on the side, so she kinda won everything or made sure we won.
We had some fancy dinner at her's with her parents and little brothers. I was absolutely amazed as her mother had made duck. That's both expensive and delicious. Of course I was amazed and made sure to thank them a few times to much.
Late in the evening Amber decided to go home. Me and Amber lived close so I decided to go with her so she wouldn't be wondering the streets alone.
"Bye!" Anna called out one last time, dramatically putting on a show of it with Amber and Evelin. I laughed at them and slowly realised I had to deal with another energetic person...
"Let's get home now." I stopped their theatre game and headed outside, Amber following.
The evening was cold and windy, a bit of rain threatened to fall.
I figured that after the rain filled afternoon we should be fine, but was wrong as we ended up wet before reaching the bus stop.
"I'll pay." Amber smiled at me.
I opened my mouth to protest, but then closed it again. Yep, I didn't have enough allowance to pay this.
We stepped off close to the apartments, but were still a small while off.
Wondering the streets we talked softly, Amber didn't like the dark, so I opted having her distracted from it.
"So that Blue guy," Amber started, knowing this was a good time to ask, "Can I meet him?"
"No." I casually shrugged, "I doubt he'd love meeting everyone in my life."
"Ahw, please?" Amber gave me puppy eyes, "I just want a small talk, I'm sure he won't mind that."
"Maybe I would?" I raised my eyebrow, "I think I know what kind of talk it would be." Our conversation was interrupted slightly by some people passing us noisily.
A determined look crossed Ambers eyes, "It will just be a small talk." She crossed her arms, "I can't just have you walk around with a complete stranger all night every night. You know how dangerous that sounds?"
I rolled my eyes, knowing she was right about that.
"I don't even know if he'll show up, but... it'll get late." I knew she had a normal sleeping schedule.
"I'll be able to handle it." Amber was really determined, "How about it, we go to my apartment first, grab snacks and stuff, and an umbrella— we'll see what else, and then we'll go to wherever, okay?"
I sighed, knowing there was no way of getting out of it.
"Let's go then." I excepted my fate.
Eventually Amber managed to make a small hut-ish construction on the rooftop, using random things, it looked like.
"You sure it'll stay up?" I asked sceptically, doing this with pillows was almost the same. The main difference was that this would be wet and hard if it fell on you... alright, maybe pillows would get wet in the rain as well.
