chapter 17

"ELLIOT, DID YOU develop these yourself?" Five asked, inspecting the photographs that were laying across the table.

Edylenne sat on the couch, playing with her the hem of her sweater. Her legs rested across the couch, her skirt lifting ever so slightly. Her coffee sat on the coffee table, and laid her head on the couch. Five noticed her shirt lift at her side and saw her scar from when she flung back into the brick wall when her briefcase exploded. He turned his attention to Elliot, putting off the scar for now.

"Of course. Can't exactly drop that stuff off at the neighborhood Fotomat." Elliot stood behind Five, eating a bowl of cereal.

"I didn't see a darkroom." He said, pulling a tape from his pocket, labeled, 'Frankel Footage'. Edylenne peered her attention to the tape and squinted in confusion.

"Yeah, I converted the hallway closet." Elliot pointed towards the hallway. Five wasn't paying attention, as he took a black pen from the table and scribbled out the date above the table.

"Can you develop this?" He asked, holding the footage out in front of him. Elliot took the tape from Five's hands.

He inspected it and asked, "Huh, Frankel Footage. Friend of yours?"

"Cousins on our robot's mom's side. Can you do it or not?" Five responded, having a slight annoyance in his tone.

"Sure I can."

"How long?"

"Well, I am running low on acetic acid. Beeker's Cameras is open today, but it's two miles away. I mean, I'd have to take the bus. On the other hand, Gibson's is only ten blocks away, but I gotta cut through the park, and there's this over breed of pigeons-".

"Elliot." Five cutting him off his rambling.

"It's like five, maybe six hours." Elliot mumbled.

"Attention all units, we have a code 3-15 at the Holbrook Sanitarium." The cracked voice came from the radio, startling Five.

"The hell is a code 3-15?" Five asked the two blondes.

"Fugitives on the run." Edylenne said, walking closer to the radio to turn up the volume. Five followed her as Edylenne turned the volume up so all three of them could hear.

"Twenty-five patients still at large. Many are considered armed and dangerous."

"Oh, Diego." Five whispered that only Edylenne heard and she snickered in response.

"I never asked yesterday, who is Diego?" Elliot asked.

"Imagine Batman, then aim lower," Five said, as the police started communicating over the radio with each other. "You get started on that film. I'll be back as soon as I can."

"I'm coming with, and there is no debating that." Edylenne said, walking with Five. He turned to look at her, and tried to convince her that he can do this by himself.

"I have not seen Diego for more than 3 decades. I'm coming with you." Edylenne said firmly, glaring at Five. He sighed, and held out his hand. She hesitantly took it, and he blinked the two to a sidewalk that was just outside the building they were in.
