chapter 20

"AH! EDYLENNE, YOU must try my tuna mold!" Elliot exclaimed as Edylenne exited her room from her slumber. She rubbed her eyes and put a hand up.

"No thanks, not so early in the morning. Maybe later." Edylenne responded with a raspy voice.

She looked around and saw that Five was nowhere to be found, so she plopped down on the now empty couch from last night.

"Have you seen Five?" She asked as Elliot walked into the kitchen, and her eyes lighting up as she saw Elliot bring her a cup of coffee.

"No idea. We were looking at the machines, there was an alert and he just vanished. Did his blinky thingy." Elliot explained, handing the cup to her, which she happily accepted.

She sighed, and took a sip. She looked around the room, and heard a loud bang from the guest room. She looked in there and saw two silhouettes, one on top of eachother, which made her scoff in disgust. She downed her coffee in no problem.

She slapped her hands on her thighs and got up from the couch. "Well, I'm going to find Five."

Elliot stood up quickly while saying, "Now? You're leaving now?"

"Elliot, I haven't seen my siblings in almost 5 decades. They mean a lot to me." She hesitated, before continuing. "I'll be back as soon as possible."

He sighed, and nodded slowly. "I'll be fine, but okay. Please be safe."

"I still gotta change, y'know?" Edlynne responded, with a small smile on her face.

"Uh, right. You go do that." Elliot stuttered out, while backing into the kitchen. Edylenne chuckled and walked to her room and changed into something nicer than her pajamas.

She wore a red top with a black skirt and Converse on. Once she was done, she walked out her room and out the door. As she walked along the sidewalk, she had seen a shop for dresses. Edylenne did need a dress for tonight, and time was running out. She looked back and forth from the road ahead and the store. She sighed deep.y, and closed her eyes in annoyance.

"Whatever." She muttered, as she headed into the door of the shop. A bell rang above the door, and it was a beautiful store.

The walls were painted yellow, and there were racks of dresses. Around 10 racks in such a small store. And in the back of the store was dressing rooms and two bathrooms. She knew there was a shoe store next door, but she didn't have any money.

A white man with, what Edylenne assumed to be his wife, had his wallet tucked in his pocket. His wife held a dress and weren't paying much attention. She secretly took his wallet out of his pocket and walked further into the store. She grasped onto the wallet securely and wandered over into the dresses that were for nicer events. She was looking at some dark blue dresses, and some white dresses. She grabbed two dark blue dresses and 2 white dresses.

The first one she tried on, was shorter and had strings that tied the dress together. It stopped at about mid thigh. It was pretty, but Edylenne wanted something nicer. The second dark blue dress was simpler, and she thought it was too simple for a party like this. The first white dress Edylenne tried on was poofy, and had white roses all over the dress, and was off the shoulder. She was really considering this dress. The second white dress was a bow on the middle of the dress, with ruffled sleeves. Edylenne hated the dress, and scowled at it. She decided on the white poofy dress, and paid at the register. It was $35, and she went next door to grab a pair of heels.
