I remember small cafes,
warm white mugs and a sweet voice that says:
"Just for this once, will you please let me pay?"
kissing my hand as I quietly obey,
and grin thinking of the way
you love and care for me.
I remember roses and the lovely smell of rain,
I remember chocolate, the letters of your name,
I remember crossing through the fog as we both sang:
"These foolish things remind me of you"
I remember winter, and I remember summer,
the colorful gardens, a distant band's drummer
playing only for us, as we danced on the grass,
feeling our spirits flutter.
I remember your eyes and I remember your smile,
I remember your phone's background and your gorgeous style,
I remember the thoughts that went through my head
when you first kissed me, stealing my breath,
for yourself and nody else.
I remember laying down to count the clouds,
their shapes and sizes, our laughs and doubts,
I remember all that I loved,
And all that I wish I hadn't lost.
