My love I have spent
a thousand long years longing for you,
drowning in the ruthless river of my solitude.
I have been waiting and waiting,
and yearning to fly
like a bird through the wind of your blue skies.
When the first breeze arrives,
may it take me up high,
spread my wings and make me yours,
as you are mine.
May the nest of my loneliness be forgotten,
may I find new branches exploring,
may I find a new sense of belonging,
may the soil of our past be trodden
by feet preciously shodden.
May this poem be heard across
the plains and alps
with echoes loud.
May the world know I want you, but that I'm willing to wait
another thousand years, if so decides our fate.
For you, and only you,
I'll do whatever I must do.
