"Why didn't you tell Mum about Charlotte?" Anne came bursting into my room with Sebastian walking behind her "Stop trying to protect her. She doesn't deserve it, Lauren."
"It's not Charlotte that Im protecting" I rubbed my temples I could feel a headache coming along
"Then who are you protecting Lauren because you are protecting, someone"
"I'm protecting mum okay" I yelled causing Sebastian to take a step back "Now that you know can you please just leave me alone?"
Anne came closer to my bed resting her hands on her hips "Why? Why won't you tell Mum what happened at school? I just had to sit there being questioned why Charlotte didn't come for dinner tonight"
"Did you say anything?" I asked as Ann sat down on my bed "Of course not that's a conversation you have to have with Mum and I don't want to be the one to tell her everything before you get the chance to"
That's when Sebastian piped up "I don't understand what the problem is. Your mum is the most understanding person I know. Why can't you tell her what happened"
"Because you and Charlotte are like her other children. If she hears we have had an argument Mum will automatically be on my side. She may even start to dislike Charlotte. How will that play out if Charlotte and I become friends again"
"How do you know that will happen?" Sebastian asked "I hardly doubt Mum would do that"
Tears started to form in my eyes "It happened before. You should have seen the look on her face"
Sebastian looked at Ann who was hugging me "She's talking about Nina"
"What about Nina? what has this got to do with your mum and Charlotte"
"Everything" I whispered "Ann can you tell him about Nina?"
Ann gave me a nod and spoke "Nina and Lauren were best of friends in year eight. Do you remember how Nina would come over all the time and walk home with us from school? Well, when she met Scarlett and Troy everything changed. Nina started being a bully picking on Lauren and when mum found out she was furious that she banned Nina from ever coming round"
"Im scared if Mum finds out about the argument between me and Charlotte she will never allow her to come round again and I can't let that happen I just can't"
Sebastian sat right next to me wrapping me in his arms. I sobbed into his t-shirt. One thing I love about Sebastian no matter the situation he will always be there for me
He tells me everything will be aright and that he won't tell my mum. I guess he understands where I'm coming from. Anyone would if they knew the story of Charlotte and her family.
