"No, you can't swim." Michael let out a small scoff, running a hand through the side of his hair while he drove the car with the other, fixing the driver mirror with his free hand afterwards to get a proper view of Maya who sat in her kid's seat in the back.
"Yes." She argued, folding her arms across her chest and kicking the back of Michael's seat with a foot, knowing exactly how much he hated it. "I love to swim, uncle Calum takes me always to the beach."
Michael looked down at his lap for short, rolling his eyes secretly. He didn't want Maya to know how much he hated Calum since she loved him.
"He taught you how to swim?" He questioned, turning his head back to her just for short before he looked straight ahead again.
He wasn't right mad with Calum teaching Maya how to swim, he was more disapointed because he had it planned but since he was always so busy he didn't find the time to do it himself.
"Uh huh. Now I can swim with you and Mommy." Maya nodded, playing with her fingers again, keeping her look low.
"That's ... " Michael stopped as he tried to pull on a fake smile, squeezing the steering wheel tighter with his hands as the anger grew in him. "... Awesome." He added, lying.
"Michael." Samantha whispered after a minute, placing a hand on his thigh, catching his attention. "Take a deep breath and calm down, he didn't do it to upset you." She assured him and leaned back in her seat after Michael gave her a small nod although he wasn't fine with it.
"Uncle Calum can swim more than you, Daddy." Maya called out after some time, finally stopping to play with her small hands that always were so interesting to her.
"Who says that?" Michael asked obnoxiously, scoffing again. He was positive that Calum couldn't swim more than him, however the two years of being in the swim team paid off and Michael was actually a really good swimmer.
"Uncle Calum." Maya said simply, swinging her feet in the air
"He lies." Michael blurted out just to be shushed by Samantha the same second. "What? He did lie to her." He argued, pushing her hand off of his shoulder.
"I don't care, don't call her father a liar." Samantha said sternly, whispering so Maya wouldn't hear them. "She doesn't have to know." She added once Michael parked the car and she unbuckled her seat belt, hopping off the car angrily and making her way to the backseat to get Maya out of her seat.
"Where is my crocodile?" She questioned the second she got out of the car, running to the trunk where Michael was taking out their beach stuff such as a food basket and towels.
"It's right here." He let out a small chuckle, pulling out the crocodile that still wasn't filled with air, tossing it over to Maya. "Hey, hey. Wait for me!" Michael shouted at them once Samantha picked Maya up and made their way from the parking lot and onto the beach.
"Hurry up." Samantha said, giggling before she started to run so he wouldn't catch up with them to tease him a bit.
"I'm trying." Michael chuckled a bit as he held the heavy basket in one hand, Samantha's beach bag in the other and all the towels around his neck, struggling to walk properly.
Meanwhile, Samantha and Maya were already at the bottom of the huge sandy beach, taking off their clothes to jump right into the water, while Michael's carriage fell on the ground multiple times and he had to bend down and pick them up every once in a while.
As he did so once, he found a familiar body and face standing in front of him, smiling down at him and holding out a hand to help him stand up from the sand.
