Finally the night settled in, filtering the sky to black again. The group of benders all headed out for the night hunt on the look for the monster or possibly monsters. Everyone carefully observed their surroundings with increased vigilance. Each of them carried a lit up lantern providing light to wherever path they walked. It helped light up a bit of their surroundings as it was a challenge to see through the darkened forest. They remained close together as a group with no intention to separate themselves in the unfamiliar territory. Everything was deathly quiet. Just the rustling of the leaves from the wind. The crickets playing their common musical ballads. And the feet of the group stomping on the dry ground.

Wei Ying yawned feeling a bit bored as nothing exciting was happening. He wasn't talking much which was good in Jiang Cheng's part. The reason for his quietude was because the unwanted dizziness crawled back to him when they stepped back in to the forest. It was burdensome that the one from before, making his head heavy but he pushed through it. Not wanting to worry the others or be left behind at the inn just because he wasn't feeling that all too well. Wei Ying hated being restrained to one place.

They went deeper into the woods with still nothing unusual in sight. Wei Ying recognized they were passing by the same route that had the dead tree. He look around to lay his eyes on it and once he saw it he was overwhelmed by the amount of Yin energy it harbored. He urged himself not to show his discomfort and walk away from the dead tree. Looking at the others, they seem to not notice it. That's when something reached their ears.

"What's that sound?" Wei Ying asked.

They listened and heard the sounds to be human voices, making grunts and groan noises. All things that sounded very unintelligible that would come out the human mouth. there was no pattern found, just a whole mixture of gibberish.

"Let's go, that must be it." Lan Huan instructed.

"This spells trouble." Wei Ying whispered to himself. He walked fast to matched the pace of the younger Lan Jade.

Lan Zhan heard his words but said nothing. Still remaining close to keep an eye on Wei Ying. Watching for any danger that may come to touch him. Lan Zhan was now alert in protecting him.

Wei Ying couldn't quite put what it was but he could feel that something wrong was now about to happen. There was a great urge for him to yell and tell them not to proceed but he would get battered with questions to answer as to why. He didn't want to tell anyone that's its because he could feel so much Yin energy around the area. Wherein it looks like it was only him who could discern it. He looked to a very focused Lan Zhan whose brows were furrowed. He was debating in his head if he should tell the Jade but he decided against it. Afraid that Lan Zhan would think something was wrong or evil about him for being able to sense the dangerous energy.

All of them ran fast to the direction of the sounds, scared that if they delayed themselves it would be gone before they reach it. The sounds brought them was to a small space clearing. They gave notice that the trees were all dead and lifeless. But what truly caught their full attention were the dozens of human figures all at that clearing, some big and some small. Those figures were all walking without purpose or direction, crawling on the ground even. They were looking all completely mindless to anything. These figures were but walking dead corpses.

"What...what are these?" Jiang Cheng held back a loud gasp.

"They're the missing corpses of the town's people. But they're all moving almost as if they're alive." Wei Ying theorized.

"We need to be quiet. We can't alert them of our presence." Lan Huan whispered.

One Lan disciple panicked and kept moving backward without caution, resulting in him stepping on a fallen branch and snapping it too loudly in half. Their bodies stilled and heartbeats began raging. Everything went quiet as the corpses all stopped making their noises. Each of their heads twisted to the direction of the young benders and to their absolute horror the corpses all started running at great speed to their direction.
