Lan Haozhi and Lan Qiren both looked at him with terror in their eyes. Lan Qiren's tea cup nearly dropped from his grasp, but drips of the hot liquid managed to escape the porcelain. The hot liquid scorched his skin. He hissed from the pain, but he couldn't entirely focus on it since their thoughts were too consumed with generating up with dozens of questions based on that single answer from Lan Zhan."Wangji and I believe the Yin metal pieces are involved in this. I did not felt any of the Yin energy in Meihua's forest. Wangji appeared to be the only one who had noticed it. For what reason, I am still not sure but I trust his observations." Lan Huan added looking deeply troubled.
"It was only very faint. Not much." Lan Zhan shared.
"Wangji, how were you able to sense it?" Lan Haozhi questioned. It was alarming how only one of his two sons had been able to detect the Yin energy.
"Don't know." Lan Zhan answered.
Lan Haozhi sighed and nodded.
"Troubled times are now upon us. If this is indeed the work of the Yin metal pieces, then they must be found before they fall into the hands of evil-minded people. That is, if they have not already." He said looking deeply into his cup of tea as if it had something to say.
"Father, do you think it must be Wen Ruohan's doing?" Lan Huan asked.
"We cannot assume that yet unless we see for ourselves." Lan Haozhi said.
"Brother and I must leave to look for the Yin pieces." Lan Zhan suggested.
Lan Qiren nodded, stroking his beard. He was agreeing to the idea.
"There is still a week left before classes end. That shall be the time you two will go out and seek the scattered pieces of the Yin metal." he said.
Lan Qiren was thinking that if he allowed his nephews to leave now it would be too obvious and suspicious for the Wen Fire Clan, knowing they have their spy bird flying and hiding somewhere near. He did not want to endanger their young heirs who were capable of defending themselves but still, it never hurts to be catious. However, Lan Huan did not share the same sentiment as his uncle.
"Can we not already go down to look for them? The more we delay, the more we increase the chances for others to find it. The greater the possibility of disasters befalling innocent people." Lan Huan stressed.
"It won't be wise to make you both leave while classes are still ongoing. The Wen Fire Clan will be suspicious. It would be too dangerous. Be patient." Lan Haozhi explained as he understood what Lan Qiren had in mind.
"Father..." Lan Zhan tried to argue as well.
"We understand both of your concerns, and we, too, are concerned about prolonging it," he says, "but we are confronting a severe threat about whose capabilities we do not yet completely comprehend. As your father, I do not want to lose my only two sons." Lan Haozhi expressed.
Lan Huan and Lan Zhan both realized that their father was merely trying to protect them from imminent danger.
"On the final day of classes, you'll all be lighting sky lanterns, and there'll also be the graduation ceremony, which you're already aware of. After which, the two of you can leave Cloud Recesses, which can be considered as an excuse for you two to go exploring after the lectures." Lan Qiren explained.
"For the time being, we still need to keep the Yang metal hidden and safe. Particularly from the Wen Fire Clan. You two can go now and rest." Lan Haozhi said to his sons.
Lan Zhan got up and bowed.
"Will check on Wei Ying." he said before he left the room.
Lan Huan stood up next and bowed too.
