CHAPTER 004
| Elysian Delight, pt. 2Cyrus expected the woman to take notice of his presence and hurry up with whatever she wanted with him, but she was immersed in the comic book. Growing impatient, he tapped on the table.
"Ah, you're here," the woman spoke, keeping the book down. She dismissed everyone, and now it was only him and her alone.
Cyrus's eyes widened, and his lips parted in surprise. She was not even the last person he expected to see here. "What are you doing here?" he asked straightforwardly.
"Judging by your reaction, I assume you recognize me. I didn't think you would," she said, smiling. "I hope you know my name, Cyrus?" Serenity's voice was calm, almost teasing.
Cyrus clenched his fists. "Are you the one who sent me that text?"
"Of course I am," she replied nonchalantly.
"What do you want?" Cyrus's voice was tight with anger and fear. Serenity started laughing.
"What's so funny?",
"Look at you. You came running like a scared little puppy without knowing anything, just because you were afraid of a mere secret getting out. It's hilarious," Serenity said, her tone mocking.
"Your attire looks like you don't put much effort into your appearance if you're not getting paid. Did you come here to make a fool out of yourself?" she added, her eyes gleaming with amusement.
"Would you stop it?" Cyrus snapped.
"Ah, I got carried away. Why are you in such a hurry? Let's enjoy our time now that we're here, shall we?" Serenity clasped her hands in excitement and extended a menu to him. "Now, what do you want to eat?"
"I have no interest in sharing a meal with you. Just tell me why you called me here," Cyrus replied coldly.
"That won't do. How about a German dish?" Serenity suggested, ignoring his refusal.
Cyrus remained silent, his expression stony. She rang the bell to call the manager, "We'll have Sauerbraten, is that okay with you?", she glanced at him, again, he ignored her.
"For wine we'll go with domaine de la Romanée-Conti, and for desert bring wherever's the special here", she went ahead with her order anyways.
"Understood, your order would be made at once",
Turning her attention back to the man in front of her, who looked at her with nothing but contempt, she smiled. "So, do you know me well? My secret admirer perhaps? Don't get me wrong, I'm quite known for my fac—"
Cyrus interrupted her before she could speak anymore of nonsense. "Of course I know you. Serenity, was it? Aren't you the one who’s always sleeping through class and never makes it past the bottom ranks? Your name is hard to forget when it’s called out so often."
Serenity seemed dumbfounded by his statement, but was quick to recover, "Oh, it seems you don't know me that well," she said hiding her embarrassment.
"Don't misunderstand me, I'm not your secret admirer or anything of that sort, it's just that I was curious about the model student of our class", she clarified,
"Turns out he's some cheap escort, how much do you charge for your services anyway?", she added leaning in closer,
Cyrus instinctively moved back a little maintaining the distance between them, "Why are you so interested if you're not a secret admirer? Mind your own damn business",
It was getting hard for Serenity to keep an arrogant smile on her face, "Your secret must not be that of a big deal to you if you're acting like that", she said, a threatening edge to her voice.
