“Great is our LORD and mighty in power; his understanding has no limit. The LORD sustains the humble but casts the wicked to the ground.” – Psalms 147:5-6

Chapter 46
Deanne
My father would never say it as a joke just to pacify Joaquin. Sadness or hurt or both were palpable on his grim face. And he was telling me that we can visit Yale in the office and that Yale was working in his company!
Ano itong nangyayari?
“He applied. Dylan hired him.” dad supplied my unspoken curiosity.
“P-pero…”
He sighed and was pissed. “His businesses are collapsing. That’s why he ended up applying,”
“Ofcourse not. Looks like he’s just using that job to get near you, sweetheart. It’s so obvious.”
My father’s jaw clenched.
“The moment you came back home, there’s no way I will let him get near you again! Only this time. That my grandchild is looking for him but that will be not forever. I will make sure Joaquin will soon forget about that—fu—man!” hirap niyang salita sa huli.
An immediate protest blew up from my head.
“I didn’t file the case against him for the sake of he did his job as the father to Joaquin. But that’s more than enough. If he really did his job as a father, I’m sure he’ll know why I don’t want to see his face here in my house and I will never let him get you and Joaquin away from me again. Not again!”
“Dad…”
“And you’ll annul your marriage!”
“Dad!”
I looked at her. She shook her head without my father noticing it. If only I could explain further but there were no words that I could use to defend Yale. Kahit siya pa ang ama ni Joaquin.
He hissed.
“I cannot fully trust that man, Deanne. I did that before and I will not be fooled again.”
“Johann…” Mom muttered but dad didn’t even look back at her.
