As time passed, the prince remained in the mountains for a while, having had the time and peace to reflect on whatever he needed to. He tried to relax as best as possible and enjoy the environment he felt most comfortable in until he eventually decided to make his way back down to his castle. He figured that the kingdom might've fallen into panic by then and felt somewhat guilty to have left them unannounced.

While the King made his way down the mountain, the rest of the guys lowered a bit into the bushes and trees to be completely hidden. By then it began snowing rather calmly and lightly, only then one of the guys cursed under breath when looking back at the ground. He had just noticed that although they were fully hidden along with their horses and split into groups, their footsteps remained in the snow and were still pretty visible as the snow was too slow to cover them. They quickly turned back to the mountain and waited to see if the king would notice, ready to strike either way.

Making his way further downward he started to notice something different. Although he was still on the cold mountain he felt slightly higher temperatures radiating from multiple spots. He assumed them to be animals at first but the more he walked the more he'd notice multiple traces of footsteps from afar. He stopped walking abruptly and slowly backed off, having a bad feeling about who it might've been when only one person knew of his location. Backing off more he started to increase his pace, facing their supposed direction still

At that point the men knew they had been noticed and cursed, suddenly beginning to shoot arrows at him "Get him!" One of them yelled, as they immediately left their running spot and began chasing him, some still shooting arrows at him while others had their daggers and swords out.

Once he heard arrows being shot he immediately started running upwards the mountain again barely dodging the arrows. "Oh for goodness sake—" he huffed and seemed already irritated at the second time he noticed assassins trying to kill him. He used the snow laying on the ground to swirl up into the air, trying to make them lose track of him as he initiated a snowstorm, sometimes glancing back at them

Some of the men were left behind as they couldn't see properly in the snow but the rest split and kept chasing him, some of them getting a little faster.
Meanwhile, Flora had managed to catch up and saw the moment that they showed themselves from the ambush, hopping down from her horse since she knew he'd be too weak to handle the snow and continuing to follow by foot from further away, her heart racing in fear of him getting hurt although she couldn't see him due to the snow he raised but only followed the men. "No no no... Skylar!" She said under her breath, already bringing up a hand to her mouth and coughing

Seeing that some of them were still after him he growled briefly and kept running. At some point when some were close enough to him he stomped his foot with his full weight into the snow and caused the big area of snow behind him to quickly harden into ice, intending for the ones nearby to get stuck or slip on their next step.

The majority of them did in fact slip or fall, though some shoved their sword into the ice to support themselves and keep standing and only a few dodged it by going all the way to the side and disappearing. "Dammit, just kill him already!" The leader ordered. That gave enough time for Flora to reach the group but decided to also change her path, heading instead to go towards the side where she was more hidden and avoided the ice.

He looked back at them as he kept running and furrowed his eyebrows "Just leave me alone already!" He exclaimed "Otherwise I'll be forced to kill you!" he shouted with a slight growl, seeming to take it quite seriously and getting more and more agitated by them chasing after him

While he was getting distracted and more agitated, one of the guys had finally the chance to aim at him from the opposite side of where Flora was and show an arrow right at his shoulder, having taken his time to adjust himself to the rhythm of the man running. Flora widened her eyes seeing it and turned to Skylar, still covering her mouth with her arm to cough as her condition worsened but trying to endure the cold.
