Devon and I are sat on a blanket on the beach, food in front of us as we talk.

The sun slowly setting as he passes me a strawberry from a container.

"So you moved here from England?" He asks.

I nod, "It's a very long story for another time.. but basically my parents hated me and sent me to be fixed" I smile softly, "Stupid I know"

"It's not stupid. I mean I've heard some very... interesting stories from other people so I'm sure yours isn't that bad" Devon says reassuringly.

"Depends," I say, "what about you? What made you come here?"

He sighs, "Little brother needed me to keep him company. Plus my parents are halfway across the world on a beach drinking fruity beverages and giving zero fucks where we are"

"They left you.. didn't they?" I ask softly.

"Yeah, but I guess that's how it was meant to be from the beginning. They check in though, so I guess it's not that bad," Devon smiles weakly.

"Well, at least they make the effort to even reach out to you guys. Mine most likely forgot about me"

"Most likely?" He asks curiously, "You're not sure?"

"It's a long story. Let's just say my parents are self-centred assholes" I smile and look at him.

"Any siblings?" He asks.

"I am one out of four. One actually works here" I say.

"Oh right, Ms Founders" Devon nods, "yeah she's nice."

"Well Alex bakes chocolate chip cookies every Friday and gives them to the first twenty people she sees"

"I will definitely keep that in mind" Devon chuckles, "so, you're friends. They seem like a very popular bunch"

"Yeah, I'm not really involved a lot with them though. I tend to keep to myself like they always say" I say quietly.

"But they all seem to think something changed in me ever since I became friends with Clay, and you of course. I never used to talk to people after—" I stop myself.

"Well, I'm glad you're putting yourself out there and making friends. Everyone needs a little switch up every once in a while," Devon smiles at me, "plus you're really cute so it's a bonus"

"What? A bonus to be my friend?" I joke.

"Yeah," he says jokingly as he looks at me.

I look back at him, and I soon realize that our faces are close together.

This is wrong. But is it?

Our lips connect and a soft kiss, not really heated and it didn't go anywhere.

But that's how the night ended.

He took me back to my dorm, and we kissed again, and that was the night.

Now I'm sitting in my dorm on the floor. A notepad in my hand and a pen in the other. The notepad Clay gave me.

I think about clay. Wanting to see him. Maybe I'll go after I'm done writing...

I place the pen on the paper, writing the first two words.

Dear Mom,
