"A this yuh call mi out a mi bed fah? Fi stare in a mi face?" I asked casually, pretending not to care while sitting across from Zaire at a Korean café in Kingston.
He flashed a grin and shifted in his seat. "I missed this," he said. I responded with a deadpan stare. Was he joking? "Your attitude, I mean. Sometimes I miss arguing with you."
"Oh a argument yuh want? Let's get into it then. Why yuh trim yuh hair Zaire?" I inquired, taking note of his new look. He wasn't unattractive by any means, but it was a change for me. I frowned realizing I won't have anything to grip when he's fucking me. After all, what's a makeup without makeup sex?
"I didn't have the time to sit and retwist it all so I just made the spontaneous decision to cut it."
"Suh when yuh did have yuh concubine a rub yuh down yuh couldn't use that time to get it retwist?"
He laughed and replied, "No, I got the haircut done before I began talking to her. It happened a few days after you left, and I was feeling out of sorts for some time, so I couldn't take care of it."
"What about the tattoos? Yuh did have time fi do dem deh?" I examined the fresh ink on his arm while he sat with his legs spread wide and sipped his bubble tea.
"Mi and Liam guh do them. He had an appointment to get some new tattoos so I went with him. There was an artist who didn't have any appointments at the time so I just sat in the chair and let them do what they wanted to."
I expressed my frustration by rolling my eyes, feeling irritated by his relaxed demeanor. It bothered me how composed he appeared while I was a bundle of nerves. This day could either signify a fresh start for our relationship or its complete end.
Both of us remained seated, silently studying each other, waiting for someone to finally break the silence.
Feeling increasingly irritated, I made up my mind to break the silence myself. "Alright, enough small talk. Let's address the real issues here. Zaire, I need you to be completely honest with me, or else I'm leaving and we can end things right now."
Zaire nodded, indicating his agreement and willingness to cooperate.
"Alright. Who was sending me those messages?"
"... Anastasia."
"Ana- WAH?" I exclaimed, but he quickly hushed me as a few people in the store turned their heads to look at us "What do you mean Anastasia? Yuh previous concubine? Why she text mi phone?" I asked lowering my voice.
"Bruh what's with you calling women I'm involved with concubines?" he laughed.
