Life eva juss a guh so bad that you have to sit for a minute and wonder if you killed children for a living in your past life and this is your karma?

That's me right now.

I gazed intently at the pair of pink lines, desperately wishing that my intense stare could make the second line vanish. This situation is the consequence of my impulsive behavior and lack of self-control. Of course something like this would happen with my bad luck.

"Wow, you didn't use any protection?" Asia exclaimed, her eyes fixed on the pregnancy test as we sat in the private bathroom of our room at Dimitri's house. Zaire and I hadn't left yet, mainly because Dimitri suggested it would be wiser to stay.

"To be honest... No. The only 'protection' we relied on was my IUD."

"Not even a condom?" she asked, clearly shocked, and I shook my head.

She let out a deep sigh. "So what are you going to do now?"

"What do you mean, what am I going to do? Return it to the sender, of course," I replied, wrapping the test in tissue and tossing it into the trash.

"Really? But it's not legal here," Asia responded.

"I'll figure something out. Look, I understand it's not the most morally right choice, and I don't want you to judge me, but getting an abortion is the best decision for me right now. I'm not emotionally or mentally prepared to raise a child, and it wouldn't be fair to bring a baby into the current circumstances."

"I won't judge you, India. I'll support whatever choice you believe is right for you. The well-being of the living takes precedence over that of the unborn and the deceased."

I mustered a weak smile and exchanged it with Asia before we stepped out of the bathroom. As she opened the door, Asia startled, causing me to lean over her shoulder to catch a glimpse of who might be outside. To our surprise, Zaire stood at the edge of the bed, his expression filled with suspicion, his gaze fixed upon both of us.
