THREE:
THE TRAIN & THE TOAD

A week later September 1st finally came around. Elsie found herself growing more and more excited as the days passed. She would stay up late every night to read the text books, memorizing every fact and detail her brain could carry.

After the strange experience at the wand shop Elsie stayed away from her wand. She didn't know what exactly had happened, and clearly Olivander had never seen anything like it.

Her foster parents however begged her to do more magic for them, despite the rule of no magic outside of Hogwarts when underaged.

Elsie read Hogwarts A History and familiarized her self with the backstory of the school.

She even learnt about a magic sport called Quidditch! It was a game played while riding broomsticks! Her family had gotten a kick out of that.

So when September 1st came around Elsie felt prepared.

"You have everything you need? Tooth brush, robes, wand?" Mrs. Greene asked as they hurried through the train station in search of platform 9 3/4.

"Don't worry, if i missed something I'll just write to you." Elsie smiled.

"Oh I just can't believe you're leaving for the whole year!" Mrs. Greene sniffed.

"I'll miss you guys." Elsie said tears forming in her eyes.

"We'll miss you too. But we should probably find this platform before the train leaves you behind." Mr. Greene pointed out.

"Right," Mrs. Greene nodded.

Elsie thought for a minute. Obviously there was no such thing as Platform 9 3/4s. At least not to regular- Muggles. So the platform was hidden. Most likely between platforms 9 and 10.

"How likely is it that the train is invisible?" Mrs. Greene asked.

Elsie blocked her out and pushed her trolly up to the wall in between 9 and 10.

"Elsie?" Mr. Greene called.

Hoping she was right Elsie took off at a run to the wall bracing for impact. But it never came.

Instead she passed right through. Elsie felt a magical sensation pass through her. It felt like glitter was being thrown over her. She quite enjoyed it.

Elsie glanced around in awe at the hidden train station. The scarlet train stood proudly as students and their parents bustled around in frantic groups. All of these people were magic, Elsie realized. The fact that such a vast group of people were able to hide a whole other world was unbelievable.

A moment later Mr. and Mrs. Greene appeared in a frenzy.

"Good lord!" Mr. Greene exclaimed as he stumbled out of the wall.

"Are you alright dear? You gave us a nasty scare when you ran off," Mrs. Greene asked Elsie, checking her for injury's.

"Yes, I'm- fantastic," Elsie breathed still in awe of the station.

"Good lord," Mr. Greene repeated as he took in the sight.

"We best get out of the way," Elsie pointed out as they were standing right in the way of the wall.

"Yes, it is almost 11 anyways," Mrs. Greene ushered the 11 year old towards the train.

"Right then. You best climb aboard Ellie," Mr. Greene said while trying not to run into a family of red heads.
