____THIRTY-EIGHT:
THE HEIR OF SLYTHERINWhy were they always falling?
That was all Elsie could think of as she felt the wind rush through her hair. Though she supposed they weren't exactly 'falling', more sliding.
She was going so fast the girl couldn't make out her surroundings, all she knew was that she was on a metal slide, and that it stank.
Soon she flew off the slide and landed on something hard and pokey. Upon closer examination Elsie realized what it was; bones.
Elsie would have preferred the Devils Snare any day after that.
After she recovered from the wild ride Harry, and Ron flew out from where she had just come from looking as disheveled as she felt.
"Ugh," Ron groaned, looking disgusted with their surroundings. Not that Elsie could blame him, not only were they in a animal grave yard, but also in a sewer.
"Now, remember: any sign of movement, close your eyes straight away." Harry stated, pulling his wand back out and setting off down the dark corridor.
Elsie followed after the scar-head, Lockhart and Ron close behind. For a while they walked in total silence, but when they came up on a wide corridor Elsie couldn't help but gasp.
"What is that?" Ron gagged in disgust.
It was massive, maybe 80 feet long, with slimy detailing over the diamond designs trailing down the tail.
"Looks like a snake skin." Harry poked at it with his wand.
"Bloody Hell," Ron shook his head in amazement, Lockhart let out a groan before fainting.
The three stared at him in disbelief, all wondering how anyone ever thought he was a brave wizard.
"Heart of a lion that one." Elsie muttered.
Before anyone could respond to that Lockhart jumped back to his feet, grabbing Rons wand in the process.
"The adventure ends here. But don't fret. The world will know our story. How I was too late to save the girl," Lockhart was holding the wand to them, flickering his eyes defensively. "How you three tragically lost your minds at the sight of her mangled body. So...you first, Mr. Potter. Say good-bye to your memories."
Before Elsie could make a move to protect her friend the crazy man shouted, "Obliviate!"
However instead of Harry being affected, it was Lockhart who was thrown backwards, landing harshly against the stone wall and crumbling to the floor, unconscious.
Looks like Rons broken wand had done some good after all.
Before Elsie could voice this aloud however, the floor began to shake, and the rocks around them began to crumble.
Giant boulders began to fall from the ceiling, nearly crushing the three as they ran for cover.
A particularity large rock nearly crushed Elsie, but luckily Harry managed to grab her arm and drag her to the side.
