NINETEEN:
THE HOUSE CUP

The pain Elsie was experiencing was enough to beg for death. That was a bit dramatic, but very true.

When she woke up all Elsie could feel was the pounding in her head. Luckily Maddam Pomfrey had given her some medication that numbed it considerably.

Then Elsie felt a rawness in her throat that was all thanks to the gross plant known as Devils Snare. Pomfrey had given her a warm tea to sooth it, but talking still hurt.

Once she was taken care of Elsie finally allowed herself to worry about what had happened.

Harry was asleep in the hospital bed next to her, both had piles upon piles of treats and cards from other students at the base of their beds.

The scar-head boy seemed fine, just a bit beat up. Luckily it wasn't worse.

Pomfrey had told the girl that Ron and Hermione were also just fine, and both had been kicked out due to the disturbance of peace.

Now Elsie sat in silence, questions bouncing around in her brain. Nothing made sense, she wasn't sure if it was in general or from the medicine, but Elsie couldn't focus on a single thought.

What she needed was to get out of the hospital room.

Elsie threw the warm blanket off of her legs and attempted to stand, yet failed. Her legs seemed to be weak.

"Lovely to see you up and moving Ms. Jones," Dumbledore's voice rang through the silence of the room, a very nice change in the gloomy atmosphere.

"Professor!" Elsie grinned.

"Headmaster, wonderful to see you. I wasn't aware you would be stopping by," Pomfrey greeted coming out of her office.

"I thought I would drop in and check in on Ms. Jones and Mr. Potter." Dumbledore smiled.

"Well Potter hasn't come around yet, and Ms. Jones seems to be alright, just a little loopy on painkillers." Pomfrey stated.

"I'm not loopy, I'm fine," Elsie groaned, at that moment she just happened to trip and stumble back onto the bed.

"You stay in that bed," Pomfrey ordered sternly before turning back to her office.

"You did a very brave thing yesterday," Dumbledore started. "Particularly clever of you to use that muggle device, I'm sure it took them by surprise."

"What exactly happened Professor?" Elsie questioned.

Dumbledore gave a small grin, "Harry here was able to over come Quirrell. He protected the stone, and erased Quirrell from existence."

Elsies eyes widened, "Harry killed him?"

"Not on purpose."

"Then how?" Elsie wondered.

Before Dumbledore could answer, Harry let out a grunt of pain before sitting up in the bed. Relief washed through her blood as Harry reached for his glasses and examined his surroundings.
