THIRTY-ONE:
LANGUAGE OF THE SNAKES

The potion concoction was going along smoothly, but the problem was that they were missing a few ingredients. Unfortunately those ingredients could only be found in Snapes personal storage.

"What we need is a diversion." Hermione stated as they made their way to the dreadful class. "Then one of us can sneak into Snapes office and take the supplies."

For a girl who was obsessed with rules Hermione sure had no problem breaking them.

"I can do it," Elsie offered. The idea of causing trouble in Snapes class was to good of an opportunity to pass up.

"Wonderful, all you'll need to do is keep Snape busy for a few minutes while I sneak into his office." Hermione nodded.

"Reckon we better stay on their good side," Ron muttered to Harry who hummed in agreement.

Today they were making a swelling solution, which was complicated and difficult, but that was why it was enjoyable. Elsie found Potions to be an interesting subject. She enjoyed making the mixtures, but Snape made the class less than enjoyable.

However today Elsie wasn't focused on her Swelling Solution, instead she was waiting for Hermione to give her the signal for her to cause the diversion.

Elsie wasn't quiet sure what she was gonna do yet, but improvisation was one of the girls many strengths. But whatever she did, she needed to ensure that none of her friends got caught behind the act.

Just then when Snapes back was turned, Hermione gave the girl a swift nod. Taking focus on Goyles cauldron Elsie considered Mrs. Tripps advice.

With a slight jerk of her head the cauldron exploded, sending the liquid inside sputtering over the students caught nearby.

At once chaos erupted and Hermione was able to duck out of the room and into the office.

Elsie had to work to contain her laugh as she watched Malfoy get a face full of potion causing his head to swell.

"SILENCE!" Snape bellowed, the class fell quiet at his words. "Anyone who has been splashed, come here for a deflating draft."

Once everyone had gotten a dose of the antidote Snape slide over to Goyles cauldron in search of what had caused the explosion, but instead he came up empty handed.

"Potter did you-" Snape didn't get a chance to finish before Harry cried out in protest.

"With all due respect Professor, I would like to point out that this wouldn't have happened if you had taught the lesson better," Elsie found herself speaking before she could stop herself. Seamus and Ron snickered whilst the Slytherin's sent her dirty looks.

"20 points from Gryffindor for your lack of manners Jones." Snape wrinkled his nose, not noticing Hermione rejoin the class. "And if I ever find out who did this.... I will personally ensure that they are expelled."

"That was bloody brilliant Ellie! The way it just exploded everywhere! Amazing-" Ron went on as the four stalked through the halls after classes.
