It has been two long weeks since Draco started ignoring me. The air between us turned icy, and I'm left wondering what I could have done to deserve this treatment. Ever since that incident, he's become so distant, so hostile. He would come by to check on me briefly, offering curt instructions, and then vanish without a trace. The casual warmth we once shared has been replaced by a cold formality. He addresses me only as "Professor," disregarding the familiarity we once had. I mustered the courage to confront him, seeking an explanation for his sudden change, but he remained tight-lipped, leaving me bewildered and hurt.
In my desperation for answers, I turned to Headmistress McGonagall, hoping she could shed some light on the matter. "Darling, it's nothing," she assured me with a compassionate smile. "Draco is simply tense about Scorpius and Albus. Those two troublemakers seem to be causing quite a stir for their parents, if rumors are to be believed." Her words resonated with my observations, for I had noticed the mischievous duo wandering the corridors late at night, their attention wavering in my classes. But why would their actions affect Draco's demeanor towards me? If it bothered him, why couldn't he confide in me? After all, I had bared my every insecurity to him, trusting him with my deepest fears.
Now, plagued with doubt and feeling foolish, I can't help but wonder if I've become nothing more than a patient in his eyes. Loneliness has clouded my judgment, making me desperate for his affection. Oh, how being single for so long can twist one's perception and leave them yearning for love's embrace. In this moment of self-reflection, I can't help but question if my longing has led me astray, chasing a connection that may never truly exist.
"Good morning, ladies and gentlemen," I greeted with a sense of urgency, hurrying towards the Dark Arts classroom.
"Good morning, Professor Scamander," they replied in unison. Today, I would be teaching the third-year Gryffindor and Hufflepuff students.
"So, I understand it's Monday, and the energy to start your day might be lacking as the essence of the weekend still lingers. That's why we'll be learning a new spell today through practical application," I announced, a mischievous glint in my eyes.
The students, initially uninterested, suddenly perked up and began chatting amongst themselves.
"Now, enough talking. Gather around, everyone. Can anyone here tell me what a boggart is?" I scanned the class and noticed a black-haired boy raising his hand.
"Yes, James Potter?"
"A boggart is an amortal shape-shifting non-being that takes on the form of the observer's worst fear. Since it can change shape instantly upon encountering someone, no one knows what a boggart looks like when it's alone," he confidently answered in one breath.
"Correct, Mr. Potter. Ten points to Gryffindor," I commended him.
"Now, we all have fears, and the best way to overcome them is to face them head-on. The boggart will help you confront your fears. But don't worry, I have every confidence that you'll successfully banish your fears. Now, repeat after me: 'RIDDIKULUS.'"
"RIDDIKULUS," they echoed in unison.
"Now, form a line. Ah, yes! Donna McNully, please step forward," I called upon the Hufflepuff girl. "Now, think of something funny. One, two, and three."
As I unlocked the cupboard, Argus Filch suddenly emerged from it, wearing a sadistic, nasty smirk on his face, saying, "I'm going to complain about you to Professor Haywood."
Maintaining my composure, I instructed Donna to think of something funny and cast the spell. Though she turned pale, she nodded, absorbing my words. With determination, she shouted, "RIDDIKULUS!" In that moment, Filch transformed into a sad-looking gnome.
