Leah's POV
That day as I walked by, I caught a glimpse of Draco out of the corner of my eye. The intensity in his gaze spoke volumes, as if he had something important to say, yet he refrained from calling out to me. Confusion clouded my mind as I questioned his peculiar behavior. Had I unintentionally uttered something in my unconscious state that repelled him, prompting him to withdraw and ignore me? But deep down, my intuition insisted that our connection ran far deeper, that we knew each other from the very beginning. And yet, he denied me the opportunity to discuss it, leaving me exasperated and longing for answers. "What has happened to you, Doctor Malfoy?" I whispered in frustration.
"Earth to Angie!" Two familiar male voices snapped me out of my reverie, and I found myself face to face with Edward Remus Lupin and Fred Weasley, their curious eyes fixed upon me.
"Oh, you mischievous troublemakers! Have you completed your potions?" I inquired, raising an eyebrow. They nodded eagerly, and Lupin chimed in, "Yes, Angie, and we've been calling you for..." "Exactly 2 minutes and 37 seconds!" Fred interjected with a mischievous grin.
"You know, if anyone ever bothers you, just let us know, Angie!" Fred declared protectively. I laughed and replied, "Of course, my little bodyguards, but first, let me inspect your Wolfsbane potion."
"Angel, we're not little anymore!" Lupin protested.
"But in my eyes, you'll always be the brave little boys," I insisted, playfully ruffling Lupin's hair. "Yeah! Well done, Weasley. Five points to Gryffindor," I added, and receiving a proud smile and wink from Fred.
"Now, Lupin, my dear Lupin! Excellent work! It's a perfectly brewed concoction. Ten points to Hufflepuff!" I praised. However, his mind seemed preoccupied with lingering thoughts. Sensing his distraction, Fred nudged him, and finally, he focused his attention on me. "Huh?" he responded absentmindedly. Offering him a warm smile, I gently placed my hand on his head. "You know, Edward, Remus Lupin would be immensely proud of you. Although we may not see them with our mortal eyes, parents never truly leave their children. They remain with us, always. Just like your godfather drew strength from his mother's love, don't be disheartened. I know he watches over you, Lupin." I handed him a chocolate bar, and a smile graced his face as he expressed his gratitude, "Thank you, Professor Scamander!"
Feigning surprise, I exclaimed, "Professor? Who are you? What have you done with my Edward Lupin?" Both boys burst into laughter, and Fred chimed in, "Listen, brother-in-law, before you give away the entire chocolate bar to Victoire, I'd like my fair share."
"No," Lupin countered, and I swiftly intervened, silencing their banter. "Enough, boys! As you've completed your task, now go and assist others in completing theirs." They groaned in protest, "Noooo!"
"Alright then, detention with Filch it is. I have no qualms about it," I responded nonchalantly.
"Okay, we're going!" they exclaimed in unison, begrudgingly accepting their fate.

"Merlin's balls! I'm running late and still need to assign the subjects for the next term papers. And now the headmistress wants to see me," I grumbled in annoyance, my thoughts racing as I hurried towards the headmistress' office.
"Ouch! What in the name of Merlin-... Oh! Lucius Malfoy?" I exclaimed in shock, my eyes widening at the unexpected encounter.
He seemed momentarily flustered but quickly regained his composure, his voice low and secretive as he responded, "Yes, my lady. Are you in a hurry?" His words hung in the air, laden with hidden meaning.
I was momentarily at a loss for words, the memory of that incident at Slughorn's party flooding back to me. Nonetheless, I managed to stammer, "Ye-yeah. But what are you doing here?" I glanced into the office, finding it empty except for us.
Lucius cast a quick glance at the office and replied, "Oh! I came to meet with Minerva, discussing some school management matters. Unfortunately, she seems to be unavailable." He offered me a faint, tight-lipped smile before swiftly making his exit. I watched him, struck by curiosity, as I noticed the worn-out leather diary he clutched, hidden beneath his black cape. What an enigmatic man! One of the wealthiest wizards in the country, yet carrying a tattered, old diary. Without dwelling on it further, I made my way into the office, my mind still buzzing with questions.
I wandered through the empty office, surrounded by the moving portraits of past headmasters and headmistresses. There was Dumbledore, munching on his beloved lemon drops. I couldn't help but smile at the memory of him frequently visiting our house, engaging in conversations with my father and grandfather, and bringing along a massive sack filled with delectable desserts and sweets for us. "Such a lovely man. But that evil wizard, what was his name again? Vlad? No, Voldemort killed him," I mused aloud. Though it sounded absurd, that name, Voldemort sent a shiver down my spine, evoking an unsettling sensation within me.
My gaze then fell upon a stack of pamphlets, advertising the hiring of a new Defense Against the Dark Arts professor at Hogwarts. Intrigued, I picked one up and started reading.
"Announcement: Hogwarts is seeking an eligible Defense Against the Dark Arts professor who not only possesses an excellent academic record but also has the ability to inspire and guide young minds towards self-dependence..."
"Ah, there you are, dear," a familiar motherly voice interrupted my thoughts. I turned to see McGonagall standing by the door. "We will begin distributing those tomorrow, hoping to find a suitable candidate soon. I know you're already burdened with teaching two subjects. Let's hope the position is filled promptly," she remarked with concern.
I offered her a reassuring smile and replied, "Why hope? It will undoubtedly be filled. After all, they will have the opportunity to work at Hogwarts!"
McGonagall's smile wavered slightly, a touch of sadness in her eyes. "If only it were that simple, but many still believe the cursed position rumor. I'm uncertain if anyone will apply," she confessed.
I reassured her, saying, "Don't lose hope, Minerva." With that, I turned to leave but paused and added, "By the way, Lucius Malfoy paid you a visit." She looked at me with curiosity and repeated, "To me?"
"Yes, he mentioned having some management issues to discuss with you," I confirmed.
McGonagall nodded, her expression contemplative. I left the room, leaving her deep in thought.
That night I found myself immersed in the realms of a recurring dream once again. It was a stormy night, the tempestuous winds howling outside a majestic and antiquated manor. The air was filled with an aura of mystery and enchantment. I traversed a dimly lit corridor, its length stretching before me like an endless abyss. The flickering glow of candles offered the only source of illumination, casting eerie shadows along the walls. Through the grand hall, adorned with colossal glass windows adorned in maroon curtains.
Within the hall stood an imposing piano, its presence commanding attention. A young man, dressed in a sleek black suit, captivated my gaze. Though I couldn't see his face but his fingers danced across the keys, producing a hauntingly beautiful melody that resonated with a profound longing. Each note seemed to echo through the depths of his soul, as if he yearned for someone or something lost in time.
As I stood there, entranced by the melancholic symphony, a sense of both trepidation and fascination filled my being. The dream possessed an air of uncertainty, an enigmatic path waiting to unfold before me. What secrets and revelations lay in store for me in the future, I wondered, as the haunting music continued to weave its spell upon my slumbering mind.
